Around 130 hectares of castle parkland and viewpoints overlooking the Moravice Valley and the castle: Hradec nad Moravicí brings together scenery and cultural history. From the castle complex, visitors can access the park, viewpoints, the courtyard of the White Castle and an introductory historical exhibition. Together, they offer a first impression of the different ways to experience a castle visit: taking in the valley views, strolling through the park or discovering the history of the complex.

Castle Rooms, Garden Culture and History

The park names also add their own points of interest: Beethovenův vrch, Lisztovo návrší and Bezručova vyhlídka are among the named hills and viewpoints. Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Liszt are also among the documented visitors to Hradec Castle. This place brings together specific spots in the park and names from music history, without letting the castle's history overshadow the landscape.

Raduň offers a different perspective on castle life. There, a visitor route leads through private aristocratic salons and up to a large attic for guests. While Hradec combines the park, viewpoints and an introductory exhibition with the castle complex, the tour in Raduň focuses on historic interiors. Those interested in castle history will find two distinct experiences here.

Botanical diversity takes center stage at the Nový Dvůr Arboretum in Stěbořice. The collection includes around 7,000 species of plants, trees and herbs, as well as varieties, cultivars and garden forms. Its rhododendron collection is considered one of the richest in the Czech Republic; the collections on display may change over time. An exhibition in the arboretum's castle explores Quido Riedl, his family and the history of the arboretum. It opened to the public on June 16, 2026. Check access information before your visit.

Educational Trails and Hiking Routes

The Raduň–Jakubčovice educational trail commemorates the crash of an American bomber on August 22, 1944, and has three information stops. The specific date gives the route a historical focus. If you are more interested in nature, the Hvozdnice educational trail lets you compare floodplain broadleaf and coniferous forest ecosystems. It can be reached from Slavkov, Hertice, Otice and Uhlířov. Check local conditions before setting out, as they may change with the seasons.

The marked blue hiking trail 2228 links Nové Sedlice, Přerovec, Podvihov, the Raduňka Valley, Kopanina and Bohučovice. These named stops and landscape features make it another option for tailoring a trip to your hiking interests. The routes also differ in their themes: the Raduň–Jakubčovice educational trail presents a historical event, while Hvozdnice focuses on an ecological comparison.

Cycling Routes and Discoveries in Opava

Several routes of different lengths are described for cycling trips. The Opava Radegast CykloTrack is 90 kilometers long and runs through Stěbořice, Nový Dvůr, Hradec nad Moravicí, Raduň and Kravaře. The Slezská magistrála runs from Jeseník via Rejvíz and Opava to Kravaře, then continues toward Hlučín; its total length is 111 kilometers. Route 551 Moravice connects Opava and the Kružberk Reservoir over approximately 44 kilometers, highlighting both the reservoir and Hradec nad Moravicí Castle. The lengths offer a first way to compare the scale of the routes. Before setting off, check the route and surfaces for the Slezská magistrála and Route 551.

Opava also offers specific points of interest for culture enthusiasts: the Silesian Museum traces its origins to a school museum opened in 1814. The Church of the Holy Spirit is part of a large Minorite complex. Together, these places show different aspects of the city's history—the development of a museum and the integration of a church into a larger monastic complex.

At Stříbrné jezero, you can swim, use the adjacent disc golf and beach volleyball courts, or go for a walk. On foot, the lake can be reached via Opava's Městské sady; bus 213 goes to the Kateřinky–Stříbrné jezero stop. Routes and stops may change, so check the current service before travelling. Also check the water conditions and recreational facilities before your visit.
