A 21-hectare castle park, a four-winged Baroque castle and a festival tradition dating back more than a century define Kravaře. The town also has a Renaissance church, as well as golf, water activities and wellness facilities.

Baroque Castle and Museum

Zámek Kravaře is a two-storey Baroque building with four wings and a rectangular courtyard. Its architectural features include an octagonal chapel with a high dome. Zámecká kaple is dedicated to the Archangel Michael. It was built in the Baroque style and is topped by a very high dome supported by pillars. At Zámecké muzeum, the permanent exhibition traces the different stages in the development of the Baroque castle. Anyone interested in architectural history will find both the building’s distinctive forms and an exhibition about its development here.

Church and Historic Details

Another highlight of sacred architecture is Kostel sv. Bartoloměje. Its white Renaissance tower dates from the first third of the 16th century. The tower houses a stone baptismal font from the same period. The tower and baptismal font can thus be placed in the same historical period, while the castle chapel and parish church represent different buildings in the town’s ecclesiastical history.

Castle Park and Nature

The Eichendorff family laid out the castle park in the second half of the 18th century. Today, it covers 21 hectares and is home to almost 100 varieties of deciduous and coniferous trees and shrubs. Streams, ponds and romantic corners of the park are also part of its character. The park therefore offers a distinct attraction alongside the castle’s architecture: the history of the grounds and a diverse range of trees and shrubs come together with streams and ponds.

The castle park has also offered the children’s learning trail Putování s veverkou Adélkou, with adventure and search tasks. If you would like to include this activity in your plans, check in advance whether it is available during your visit. The Odkryv National Nature Reserve offers a different kind of landscape: it is located in a former open-cast mine near Kravaře and covers 1.6 hectares. The castle park was created as a historic landscape, whereas Odkryv is associated with a former mining site.

Golf, Water and Relaxation

The nine-hole course of Zámecký golf club Kravaře is set among mature trees in the castle park. The club offers the public golf lessons, a pro shop, golf club hire and course rental; closed tournaments are also held. If you are planning to play golf, check in advance which public offers are available on your chosen date.

Městský aquapark Kravaře has a lazy river and a 65-metre water slide. It also offers a Finnish sauna, a steam sauna and a whirlpool. This gives you a choice between water activities and wellness. If any of these facilities are important to your trip, check what will be available on the day of your visit.

Date of the Patron Saint’s Festival

Kravařský odpust is a patron saint’s festival tradition dating back more than a century, celebrating the local parish church of St Bartholomew. The festival is always held around the Sunday closest to 24 August. If you would like to plan your trip around it, check the exact date and programme in advance.

When looking for accommodation in Kravaře, you can base your choice on your own priorities: architectural history, time in the castle park, golf, or water and wellness facilities. This helps you decide which experiences matter for your stay before choosing a hotel.
