Moravice offers a range of themes for a trip: part of the Moravice Nature Park lies within the municipality, while the Church of St Philip and St James and other architectural and memorial sites offer points of interest for culture lovers. Further afield in the region, the Moravice Valley and paddling activities add to the possibilities. If you are looking for an apartment, you can first consider whether architectural history, nature or both will shape your stay.
Nature Park and Surrounding Region
The Moravice Nature Park is characterised by hilly terrain and deciduous and coniferous forests. Its landscape also features sunny meadows, wild berries and clean air. Wooded areas and open meadows therefore offer contrasting natural scenery.
Further afield in the region around Moravice, the Moravice Valley lies between Kružberk and Hradec nad Moravicí. In places, it has gorges with walls up to 120 metres high. The valley offers another regional perspective alongside the nature park, part of which lies within the municipality.
Church, Chapels and Architectural History
The Church of St Philip and St James in Moravice is listed as an immovable cultural monument. The single-nave building dates from 1735 and is in the Baroque style. After a fire in 1954, the church was restored in 1958. Its construction and later restoration can thus be understood as distinct stages in its history.
The former Fojtství No. 113 is a single-storey Empire-style building from the first half of the 19th century. Vila Eliška No. 58 is also listed as an immovable cultural monument. Comparing the Baroque building from 1735 with the later Empire-style building reveals two different construction periods in Moravice.
There are four small chapels in the historic centre of the village. They are considered important religious and landscape-defining features. The monument to the fallen of the First World War is another local memorial: it is a valuable sculpture by the Silesian sculptor Josef Obeth.
Outdoor Activities
The Moravice Fit Trail features elements for outdoor fitness and play. Its facilities include information boards, benches, litter bins and a bicycle rack. As its physical condition may change, it is advisable to check before visiting.
The signposted cycling route 551 MORAVICE runs through the area around Moravice. Signage and the local route may change, so check the current route status before setting out. For paddlers, a quiet river stretch of about 1 km below the Kružberk Reservoir is considered suitable for families and beginners in the sport. It starts about 300 m below the dam. Water levels and navigability vary seasonally, so timing is a consideration when planning.
