The southern part of Nové Sedlice lies at the foot of the Polomská vrchovina; to the northwest, the municipality borders the Poopava Lowland. These two landscape features provide clear orientation as to the location. There are also walking and cycling routes, as well as local buildings and memorial sites. You can therefore plan your stay around the landscape, outdoor activities or local history.
Local History and Architecture
A cross dating from 1915 beside the Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity commemorates František Tížek, who fell in the First World War. The dedication keeps a specific person present in the village’s history and gives the memorial a clear historical connection.
The former school building was built in 1924 and is a beautifully restored Art Nouveau building. Today it houses the kindergarten, the municipal cultural centre and the library. The building brings together its former use as a school, its architecture and its current municipal functions. Here, you can encounter both a piece of architectural history and facilities that are part of village life today.
On Foot Towards Přerovec
A marked hiking trail passes through Nové Sedlice towards the Přerovec reservoir. A red-marked and a blue-marked hiking route run along Hlavní Street; visitors also use the pavements there. The information provides different points of reference for finding your way: Přerovec indicates the direction of the hiking trail, while red and blue identify the routes along Hlavní Street. The pavements are another stated option for getting around on foot along the street.
Cycling Routes with Different Directions
For cyclists, the routes offer different directions and sections. Cycling Route 6055 reaches Nové Sedlice from Raduň after a four-kilometre section across meadows and between small patches of woodland. Its length, starting point and terrain together give a concrete picture of this section. Local Cycling Route 6199 runs through the cadastral area from north to south, towards Přerovec and Hrabyně; from Nové Sedlice, it continues to Štítina. The regional Opava–Radegast Beer Cycling Route also runs through the cadastral area. By comparison, the description of Route 6055 specifies a section with landscape details, Route 6199 gives directions and places, and Opava–Radegast describes the course of a regional route. Local conditions may change along the described cycling routes 6055 and 6199; check current conditions before setting out.
Recreation and Getting There
Areál Soudržnosti is used for everyday recreation and includes a football pitch. It is a specifically named recreational area in Nové Sedlice, in addition to the hiking and cycling routes described above.
Within the IDS, Nové Sedlice is served by the Opava–Komárov–Nové Sedlice–Štítina–Kravaře–Ostrava bus route. As timetables may change, check the current schedule before travelling, especially if you need to coordinate your journey with a particular service.
