Chvalíkovice brings together several themes relevant to a stay: marked routes, a chapel with its own history, and local amenities. The routes provide guidance for cyclists and hikers; the chapel, a bowling alley in the Sokol gymnasium, and the U Golema restaurant and café add to the picture of the town.
Cycling and Hiking Routes
Chvalíkovice lies at the transition between the foothills of the Low Jeseník Mountains and the lowland of the Moravice River valley. This change in landscape gives the town a regional setting, while the cycling and hiking routes offer specific ways to get around.
The marked cycle route 6055 connects Branka u Opavy, Chvalíkovice, Vršovice and Raduň. It follows class III roads. The four place names indicate the route’s direction; the road classification is also a specific point to consider when planning your trip. A cycle path from Raduň to Branka also passes through Chvalíkovice. From 2001 onwards, the race course of the challenging Silesia Bike Marathon mountain bike race ran through Chvalíkovice.
The Bezručova Trail is an 18-kilometre hiking route around Hradec nad Moravicí. Its yellow markings lead through Chvalíkovice via the “Vršák” trail junction. This gives the trail a specific reference point in the town in addition to its regional scope. Compared with cycle route 6055, the main difference lies in the activity and navigation: the cycle route connects four named places and follows class III roads, while the Bezručova Trail is defined by its length and yellow markings. When choosing between them, it is therefore worth considering whether you would prefer to focus on a cycling connection between towns or a hiking route around Hradec.
The Chapel and Local History
The first written mention of Chvalíkovice dates from 1445, when the town belonged to the Hradec estate. The Chapel of Saint Michael the Archangel was built in 1865 and is the only cultural monument in Chvalíkovice. It commemorates the victims of the First and Second World Wars. These two points offer different historical perspectives: the 1445 mention places the town within the estate to which it then belonged, while the chapel brings together architectural history and remembrance.
Local Amenities and Choosing Accommodation
There is a bowling alley in the Sokol gymnasium, and U Golema is a restaurant and café in Chvalíkovice. These add local activities and dining to the routes and chapel. You can factor these amenities into your stay as interests in their own right, so that planning your time in town does not have to focus solely on excursions.
With this in mind, you can tailor your search for a holiday apartment to your own travel interests, without having to plan a fixed daily schedule.
