Dobroslavice can be explored through two distinct themes: architectural history and protected nature. The castle park and several historic landmarks offer a cultural focus, while natural areas and the wildlife protected there provide a different perspective on the town. The side that interests you most can help guide your plans for your stay.
Nature and Protected Areas
The Jilešovice–DÄ›hylov Natural Monument lies on alluvial deposits in the cadastral areas of Dobroslavice and DÄ›hylov, between HluÄŤĂn and DÄ›hylov on the right bank of the Opava River. It protects the dusky large blue butterfly (Maculinea nausithous). The site is also rich in amphibians, reptiles and birds. This brings two distinct aspects of nature into focus: the protection of a specifically named butterfly species and the diversity of several animal groups.
PoštovnĂ rybnĂk is a nature reserve. If you plan to visit, check the current visitor access arrangements in advance.
Castle Park and Historic Landmarks
Dobroslavice Castle Park is protected as a cultural monument. Designed in the English landscape style, it dates from 1813 to 1819; it was revitalized in 2002–2003. Its planting includes rhododendrons as well as newly planted coniferous and deciduous trees. The composition may gradually change. The park also contains the ruins of a stone bridge built around the turn of the 20th century.
The castle chapel dates from 1896, and its marble altar from 1910. Near the reconciliation crosses of Dobroslavice stands a sandstone column of the Virgin Mary, with a Madonna dating from the 19th century. The dates refer to different structures and features: they range from the early 19th-century park to the 1910 altar.
Exploring on Foot and by Bike
The green and yellow hiking trail markers of the Klub českých turistů (Czech Tourist Club) run through Dobroslavice; a local marker points towards Plesná. Check the route on site before making firm plans for your hike.
The educational trail from Dobroslavice to Děhylov was established in 2015 with nine stops and information boards. For current planning, check whether the trail is accessible and what condition the boards are in. This keeps the historical information about when the trail was created separate from the question of whether it can currently be used.
Cycling routes also pass through Dobroslavice. There are also two maps of the cycling routes in the Matice Slezské Microregion in public areas. Before setting out on a bike ride, check the current route and whether the maps are still in place.
When looking for a holiday apartment, your planned focus can help guide your choice: the park, chapel and named landmarks offer architectural history, while the natural monument and wildlife provide a focus on nature. Check routes and visitor access for the places you choose, and plan around these specific interests.
