Oldřišov offers different ways to explore local history, architecture and regional nature: the “Oldřišov ve staletích” exhibition, the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary and the Hněvošický háj nature trail. Two cycling routes also pass through Oldřišov. When planning a visit to the exhibition, note one specific condition: it can be visited during the municipal office’s opening hours or by prior arrangement. So plan your visit around the office hours or make an appointment in advance.
Church and local history
The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is a single-nave building made of sandstone blocks and bricks. “Single-nave” describes its basic layout, with one main nave; sandstone blocks and bricks identify the building materials used. The church complex also includes a separate wooden bell tower. This brings two architectural aspects to the fore: the church’s form and choice of materials, and the free-standing tower. Together with the exhibition, they offer a cultural perspective that treats local history and architectural design as distinct subjects. The title “Oldřišov ve staletích” focuses on the town through the centuries; the church adds a specific architectural perspective.
Nature trail in Hněvošický háj
The Hněvošický háj nature trail is located in the nature reserve of the same name, between Hněvošice, Služovice and Oldřišov, and is about 3.5 km long. Seven information panels cover local fauna and flora as well as the region’s settlement history. Nature and regional history are thus presented side by side on the same trail. Its location between the three municipalities also places it in a regional context.
In contrast to the church, the nature trail has a different focus: the church’s form and materials take centre stage there, while the trail focuses on nature and the history of settlement. The historical subjects also differ in scope: the exhibition’s title names Oldřišov, while the panels cover the region’s settlement history. If you are weighing up culture and nature for your stay, these subjects offer a concrete point of reference.
Cycling routes through Oldřišov
Route 6095 runs from the Pilszcz/Oldřišov border crossing through Oldřišov to Hněvošice, Vrbka and Svoboda. Route 6054 is 16 km long and runs through Oldřišov and Služovice, continuing towards Kobeřice. The named places help you identify both routes; for route 6054, the distance is an additional planning consideration.
The routes therefore offer different points of reference: for route 6095, the focus is on the sequence from the border crossing through Oldřišov to the other named places. For route 6054, you can take its 16 km length and continuation towards Kobeřice into account. This comparison is based on route and length, without treating the two routes as equivalent.
Overall, the attractions differ in perspective: the exhibition and church focus on Oldřišov and its architecture; the nature trail combines natural history with the region’s settlement history; and the cycling routes provide specific sequences of places. This lets you plan your stay according to whether you are more interested in local history, nature or one of the routes described.
