On Nagold’s Schlossberg, the ruins of Hohennagold Castle still preserve the foundations of various buildings in the castle’s core, dating back to the 12th century. In Wildberg, the local history museum in the former granary provides information about the history of Reuthin Dominican Convent, textile production at the time and the cultural history of rural clothing. The two places focus on different things: Nagold highlights the surviving structural remains of the castle’s core, while Wildberg explores the history of a convent and topics related to production and everyday culture.
Hiking Trails and Nature Experiences
In and around Calw, there is a wealth of well-signposted paths and routes where you can explore the Black Forest Central/North Nature Park on foot. Hiking can therefore take a place of its own in your travel plans. The many trails offer various ways to explore the region on foot, without any single path defining the entire hiking experience.
In Schömberg, the barefoot park offers a trail about 800 metres long, with more than 20 different materials. The approximate length and number of materials describe two aspects of the experience: the trail’s extent and the variety of its stations. Check seasonal opening hours before you travel.

Rides and Coffee in Calw
Handcrafted, single-seat hot rods are used for excursions through the Black Forest from the grounds of the former Deckenfabrik factory in Calw. They can reach speeds of up to 90 km/h. The Ebhausen bakehouse festival takes place every year on the first weekend in May. As part of the programme, visitors can sample onion cake and wood-fired bread baked in the local bakehouses.
