In Unterreichenbach, local rafting history meets trails through the municipal area. The Rafting Museum and the Talhuben Festival celebrate rafting, while the network of hiking trails extends into the neighboring “Kleb” nature reserve. This offers different focuses for planning your trip: local history, hiking, and a cycling route that passes by the village.

Rafting at the Museum and Talhuben Festival

The Rafting Museum was established in 1999 in the basement of Tannberg School in Unterreichenbach. The exhibition focuses on rafting, which was once of great economic importance to the village. A detailed model of Unterreichenbach’s former railway station offers another glimpse into local history. The museum is open by prior telephone appointment. Be sure to call to arrange your visit before adding it to your daily itinerary.

The Talhuben Festival began on May 27 and 28, 1978, as a new tradition commemorating the village’s rafting heritage, which dates back well over 600 years. At the festival, Unterreichenbach’s Talhuben rafters demonstrate runs on an original raft more than 100 meters long. Two forms of local history are presented side by side: the exhibition at the museum and the demonstrations on the raft at the festival.

Hiking and Cycling in Unterreichenbach

Unterreichenbach’s network of hiking trails covers the entire municipal area and extends into the neighboring “Kleb” nature reserve, where you’ll find a forest discovery trail. The “Unterreichenbach, through the Kleb Forest to Hohe Warte” hike is accessible by bus and train; its starting point is about 300 m from the railway station. Check the timetables for your travel date.

The signposted Nagold Valley Cycle Route passes by Unterreichenbach. Signage and conditions can change, so check both before setting out on a cycling tour.
