A broad, sandy stretch of coast, bordered by dunes and pine forest: Dźwirzyno Beach combines open coastline with shaded retreats. It is ideal for walks and relaxing in the shade. During the bathing season, supervised beach areas, food and drink stalls, changing rooms and toilets add to the facilities. Some access points have been adapted for pushchairs and people with reduced mobility.

A coastal landscape of contrasts

The Gmina Kołobrzeg brings together dunes, peat bogs, pine forests, meadows, salt marshes and river valleys. Its rich plant life reflects this diversity: more than 700 vascular plant species have been recorded in the gmina, including many protected species. The raised bogs around Dźwirzyno and Grzybowo are particularly distinctive. Peat mosses and marsh vegetation grow there, as do carnivorous plants. The coast and the bog landscape thus offer different aspects of nature, so the area cannot be reduced to the beach alone.

Harbour, canal and water sports

The harbour at Dźwirzyno reflects a shift over time: once a fishing harbour, it is now used for both fishing and tourism. It is suited to coastal sailing, fishing trips and sea excursions in small boats. A modern bridge, considered a landmark of Dźwirzyno, spans the canal between Jezioro Resko Przymorskie and the sea. Jezioro Resko Przymorskie offers another connection to water sports, including windsurfing and kitesurfing.

Routes on foot and by bike

In Grzybowo and Dźwirzyno, three Nordic walking routes run along the beaches and through the coastal forest; they vary in difficulty. For a bike ride, the 55-kilometre Wokół Jeziora Resko route is another option. It runs mostly through the Gmina Kołobrzeg and also enters the neighbouring Gmina Trzebiatów. This gives you three routes of varying difficulty alongside a cycling route whose overall length and course offer a different scale for planning an outing.

Architecture in Budzistowo, Korzystno and Karcino

The hunting palace in Budzistowo was built around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries in the eclectic style. The term refers to architecture that draws on design elements from different styles, placing the building in an era marked by a coexistence of styles. In Korzystno, the Neo-Gothic church dates from 1866. It has a former churchyard cemetery, also laid out in 1866 and enclosed by a distinctive brick wall. The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Karcino is also Neo-Gothic; it dates from 1869. The two churches were therefore built just three years apart.

Discover places along the way

On Grzybowo’s main road, a three-dimensional “GRZYBOWO” sign stands beside a fountain; it makes a good place for a short break during a walk or bike ride. At the Gminne Centrum Sportu i Rekreacji in Dźwirzyno, you can rent bicycles to explore the Gmina Kołobrzeg. This gives you several ways to experience the area: coastal paths, designated water sports, natural diversity and historic buildings.
