Riverside landscape and kingfishers
The Błotnica River meanders through the landscape, and forests surround the village. Kingfishers nest in the banks along its sandy shores. For wildlife watching, it is worth stopping with binoculars or a telephoto lens. If you enjoy observing animals, the kingfisher is a specific reason to consider the trip; the forest and river provide a local setting for nature-focused activities.
Historic mill complex
A historic mill complex, including a watermill, stands on the Błotnica River. Fragments of the waterworks have survived, including the building that housed the drive mechanism. Two local interests thus share the same river without being the same subject: wildlife watching along the banks and historic milling technology. When choosing Błotnica, this offers a straightforward point of comparison: nature or architectural history—both are firmly rooted in the place.
In the wider Kołobrzeg destination
The Kołobrzeg Municipality combines coastal dunes, peat bogs, pine forests, meadows, salt marshes and river valleys. More than 700 species of vascular plants have been recorded there, including many protected species. Sphagnum mosses and marsh vegetation grow in the raised bogs around Dźwirzyno and Grzybowo; insectivorous plants also occur there.
Beach, harbour and trails
Dźwirzyno Beach has a broad, sandy coastal stretch bordered by dunes and a pine forest, making it suitable for walks and relaxing in the shade. During the bathing season, there are lifeguarded sections of beach, food stalls, changing rooms and toilets; some access points are adapted for pushchairs and people with reduced mobility. A modern bridge over the canal between Lake Resko Przymorskie and the sea is considered a landmark of Dźwirzyno.
Dźwirzyno harbour was once a fishing harbour and is now a fishing and tourism harbour. It is suitable for coastal sailing, fishing trips and sea excursions in small boats. Grzybowo and Dźwirzyno have three Nordic walking routes of varying difficulty, which run along the beaches and through the coastal forest. The Wokół Jeziora Resko cycling route is 55 km long, runs mostly through the Kołobrzeg Municipality and also extends into the neighbouring Trzebiatów Municipality. The Gminne Centrum Sportu i Rekreacji in Dźwirzyno offers bicycle rentals for exploring the Kołobrzeg Municipality. For comparison, the Nordic walking routes are classified by difficulty, while the cycling route is measured by its stated 55 kilometres.
Architectural heritage in the Kołobrzeg area
The hunting palace in Budzistowo was built in the eclectic style around the turn of the 20th century. The neo-Gothic church in Karcino dates from 1869. The neo-Gothic church in Korzystno also dates from 1866; it is associated with a former churchyard cemetery established that same year and enclosed by a distinctive brick wall.
