The wider České středohoří provides the regional context for Ústí nad Labem District and offers hundreds of kilometres of marked hiking trails, as well as numerous educational trails leading to natural and cultural attractions. Some routes cross rocky terrain, which can be slippery when wet and icy in winter.
One marked route leads from Zadní Telnice via Adolfov, Habartice and Fojtovická pláň to Komáří vížka. Near Telnice, mountain meadows cover 30 hectares between the ski lifts. DÚK bus 451 runs from Mírové náměstí in Ústí nad Labem to the Telnice area.
Another specific walking option is the Okolím Zubrnic educational trail. It starts at the Zubrnice Open-Air Museum, is 2.5 kilometres long, passes through Týniště and follows the Luční potok on the way back. History, Technology and Regional Ways of Life
Střekov Castle was founded in 1318 to protect a trade route. Velké Březno Chateau was built between 1842 and 1845 for Count Karel Chotek and was later remodelled in the Neo-Renaissance style. The chateau showcases richly detailed interiors and historical stories, while events add to the visitor experience. The construction date and later remodelling offer two distinct points of reference for the history of the house.
At Zubrnice, the open-air museum includes a farmstead with the permanent exhibition “Hops That Built Houses”. In the Mlýnské údolí complex, there is a working mill in Týniště. The Masarykovo zdymadlo is a technical monument dating from 1923 to 1936 and includes a hydroelectric power station and a fish pass. A cable car connection from the Forum shopping centre to Větruše is also part of the area’s history: it was introduced in 2010.
