Chuderov can be explored via marked trails, several viewpoints and the elevations of Radešín and Zámecký vrch. In the municipality’s 2024 land-use plan, the administrative area of the municipality of Chuderov is assigned to the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area. This provides different starting points for finding your way around the area: a numbered section of a hiking trail, various viewpoints and a history of historic fortifications.

Marked Trails and Viewpoints

The Chuderov Circuits include a 4 km extension of the blue-marked hiking trail from Žežice to Vyhlídka Vladimíra Horáka. Its length, marking and named destination provide a concrete basis for choosing a route. A municipal visitor description from December 2021 lists four starting directions for the summit of Radešín: Chuderov, Sovolusky, Radešín and Chuderovec. This provides different planning details side by side: the trail section has a stated length and destination, while several directions are given for the summit.

The same visitor description also mentions a hiking shelter on the trail from Radešín to Vyhlídka Vladimíra Horáka. The shelter is part of the description of the trail from Radešín; the blue-marked extension, by contrast, begins in Žežice. This makes it possible to distinguish starting direction, trail length and destination when planning.

Visitor descriptions, last updated in 2016, mention views from Zámecký vrch of the Elbe Valley and the peaks of the Bohemian Central Highlands. Vyhlídka na zelené is on a green-marked trail above Chuderovec and offers views towards the Ore Mountains ridge and the northern part of Ústí nad Labem. For choosing by view, the Elbe Valley and Bohemian Central Highlands are thus one option, while the Ore Mountains ridge and northern Ústí nad Labem are another.

Landscape and History of the Heights

Radešín, above Chuderovec, is 552 m high and consists of trachyte. A prehistoric hillfort once stood on the mountain. Its elevation and rock describe Radešín’s landscape, while the hillfort provides a historical dimension. At the beginning of the 14th century, a wooden fortified structure stood on Zámecký vrch; it was burned down in 1348. The two hills therefore also differ in their recorded periods: prehistory at Radešín and the early 14th century at Zámecký vrch. A visitor description, last updated in 2016, identifies the road between Chuderovec and Arnultovice as an access route to Zámecký vrch.

Church of St. Martin in Chuderov

The Church of St. Martin in Chuderov is single-naved. Its chancel is set apart from the nave and has a polygonal end; the nave has a gable roof, while the chancel has a hipped roof with a roof lantern. Single-naved describes a church space with one nave; the polygonal chancel end describes the chancel’s multi-angled shape. The architecture can thus be understood in terms of its spatial layout and roof forms without conflating it with the history of the fortifications on the surrounding heights.
