Libouchec combines historic buildings with a designated natural area and a public golf course. Highlights range from a Late Gothic church with a Baroque staircase and Calvary group to a protected area with wetland habitats. They are complemented by tours of the castle grounds and the municipal puzzle trail. This lets you tailor your stay to your specific interests: cultural history, biodiversity or a guided sporting activity.

The Libouchecké rybníčky Natural Area

The “Libouchecké rybníčky” are among the most important amphibian spawning grounds in the Labské pískovce Protected Landscape Area. The nature reserve protects populations of rare and endangered fish species; more than 20 dragonfly species are also found there. The area includes a wet alder forest with a diverse amphibian community. The reserve therefore brings together spawning grounds, fish populations, dragonfly habitats and a woodland habitat. If you would like to make nature the focus of your trip, it offers a specific theme alongside the history of the town.

Church, Staircase and Calvary

The Late Gothic church “Kostel sv. Tří králů” stands within a historic cemetery complex. It is reached by a straight Baroque staircase that climbs the slope above the main road running through Libouchec. The Baroque Calvary group “Kalvárie,” dating from 1728, stands between the cemetery enclosure gate and the church staircase. The location, access and sculpture form a clear spatial connection: the staircase leads to the church, and the Calvary group stands between the cemetery gate and the staircase. For culturally minded visitors, the ensemble is revealed not only through the church building but also through the arrangement of its elements.

Botschen Family Chapel

The Secessionist chapel of the Botschen family (“Kaple rodiny Botschen”) dates from the late 19th century and stands on a wooded hill near Libouchec. A walking route published in 2026 gives the cemetery in Libouchec as the starting point, continues along the road to Tisá and then follows a footpath of about 300 m to the chapel. As this route description may change, check it before your visit.

Castle Tour and Puzzle Trail

Guided tours of Zámek Libouchec present the architectural and historical development of the castle grounds. This focus draws attention to the development of the estate, not just to individual architectural features. As a different kind of experience, the municipality offers the puzzle trail “Výlet s tajenkou.” This gives visitors a choice between an informative historical tour and a puzzle trail.

Golf and Waterways

The public golf course of Golf Club Libouchec has nine holes and is also suitable for beginners. Visitors can try golf and learn under the guidance of specialists. This provides a sporting option alongside architecture and nature. As visitor regulations may change, check the current conditions before your visit.

The waterways also offer a distinctive geographical point of reference: the Klíšský potok rises in Libouchec at an elevation of 447 m. There, it branches off from the Jílovský potok as a smaller tributary via an artificial watershed; this division of waters is called a bifurcation. Those interested in hydrological features as well as buildings and habitats will find a specific landscape feature here.

When looking for a hotel in Libouchec, you can first consider whether church art, nature, castle history or golf will shape your stay. The different themes offer several starting points for planning your trip without prescribing a fixed itinerary.
