The entire cadastral area of Valašská Senice lies at the southwestern tip of the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area. The municipality combines nature and leisure activities with local traditions. Landscape in the Beskydy Protected Area
The area is characterised by picturesque slopes with pastures and wooden houses, deep forests with sunny clearings, clear streams and mountain ridges offering sweeping views. The open slopes and wooden houses create a different atmosphere from the forests and streams, while the mountain ridges add sweeping views.
On foot and by mountain bike
A circular trail starts in the centre of Valašská Senice and can be completed on foot or by mountain bike. In the nearby Pulčín–Hradisko Nature Reserve, entering areas outside marked hiking trails is prohibited by law. A seasonally marked trail leads to the winter icefalls and is open from 1 January to 30 March. For the circular trail, you can choose between walking and mountain biking; for the icefalls, the season and marked route are key. Stay on the marked trails there and plan your visit within the stated period.
Chladné studánky and other natural features
The Chladné studánky area is located in the upper part of the municipality, on the road to the Selanka mountain hut. The well-maintained spring does not freeze over, even in winter. A wooden pavilion with benches provides a place to rest; nearby is a small pond where wild ducks breed. This area thus combines a spring with a place to rest and a natural feature by the water.
Outdoor swimming pool and agritourism
The Koupaliště outdoor swimming pool has a 25-metre swimming pool with a depth of up to 1.75 metres, as well as a children’s pool and a paddling pool. The grounds also have courts for volleyball, nohejbal and badminton, as well as table tennis tables. At Horská farma Severka, visitors can see sheep, goats, a cow, horses and a donkey as part of the agritourism experience. The activities have different focuses: swimming and sports are at the heart of Koupaliště, while the farm offers the chance to see its animals.
Fašank and May traditions
Fašank has been celebrated regularly in Valašská Senice since 1963. The procession winds through the village, followed by a celebration in the municipal office hall, which begins with the ceremonial burial of the bass. A holy mass is traditionally held at the Chapel of Saint Hubert and Saint Joseph on 1 May. Fašank thus combines a procession with a subsequent celebration in the hall, while the May event centres on the church service at the chapel.
At the Zvěřinové hody on 24 August 2024, the dishes on offer included venison steak with French fries, roast wild boar with cabbage and dumplings, and game goulash.
