Kladeruby brings together buildings from different periods, marked cycling routes and opportunities for outdoor activities. The small Chapel of the Virgin Mary dates from 1843, while the Church of Sts Cyril and Methodius was built much later. These differences provide a concrete framework for the history of the village. When looking for a holiday apartment, you can consider whether historic buildings, cycling or sports facilities should be the main focus of your stay.

Building history and individual sights

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary was built in 1843 as a small chapel in the Baroque style. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from the mid-18th century stands on its side wall. A bell dating from 1717 hangs in the tower: it depicts Saint George fighting a dragon and bears an inscription. The building, statue and bell represent different historical periods—from the early 18th century through the middle of the century to the chapel’s construction in 1843. This means the chapel offers more than a single construction date as a starting point for exploring the village.

The branch church of Sts Cyril and Methodius represents a more recent period. It was built in 1998 and 1999 over 299 days and consecrated in May 1999. The church was also opened to visitors in 1999. If you are planning to visit the interior, check current visiting arrangements in advance. The first mention of Kladeruby can also be placed in its historical context: it appears in an undated document whose creation is dated to 1141. The historical span therefore reaches from this early mention to the religious buildings of the 19th and late 20th centuries.

A wooden statue of Saint Hubert stands by a pond in the village area of Podhájčí. As a site of tourist interest, it complements the religious buildings with a single object in the village. Its wooden construction and location by the pond give it a different character from the chapel and the church.

Cycling and outdoor activities

Marked cycling routes 6215 and 6214 pass through the cadastral area of Kladeruby. The two route numbers refer to separate paths and therefore provide two distinct points of reference for planning. Check the signs on site before committing to a specific route. This lets you make cycling a focus in its own right and then decide how much space the historic sites should take up during your stay.

The Fit Zone Kladeruby offers another option. It includes a fitness area with exercise equipment and adjoins a children’s playground, a multi-purpose court and a workout area. These nearby facilities differ from the cultural sites in their focus on physical activity. When choosing what to do, you can therefore weigh up local history and architecture, the marked cycling routes and the various sports facilities.

Planning your journey and accommodation

The “Kladeruby – obecní úřad” bus stop is on road III/4395, which is served by bus routes. If you are planning to travel by bus, check the current timetable; schedules may change. The specific stop name makes it easier to include it in your travel plans.

When looking for a holiday apartment, it helps to first decide what you want to focus on during your stay: would you like to explore the village’s history, plan cycling routes, or make use of the Fit Zone and nearby facilities?
