The Rokytenka stream shapes the setting of Lhota U Vsetína: the village lies in its valley, while the stream forms the boundary between the Hostýnské vrchy and the Vizovická vrchovina. This connection between the valley and two landscape regions is a clear geographical reference point for finding your way around. There are also marked trails, a themed route and local memorial sites—three different ways to experience a stay in Lhota U Vsetína.
Valley and wooded landscape
The cadastral area covers 1,127 hectares, with just under 62 percent covered by forest. Only the northern part of the area belongs to the European Site of Community Importance EVL CZ0720033 Semetín. Forest therefore covers a large part of the cadastral area, while the Semetín site explicitly covers only its northern part.
The Ovocná ekostezka
One specific route through the landscape is the Ovocná ekostezka. It follows the ridge of the Wallachian hills and offers views of the valleys and green, wooded slopes. In the Lhotské paseky area, it connects to the “Tesák” nature trail. In this way, the ridge route links up with a named connection to another nature trail.
The topics covered along the route are also specific: information boards explore the history of fruit growing, organic fruit farming and organic food. The Ovocná ekostezka also has three rest areas with mini playgrounds. The landscape, the history of fruit growing and information about food are different aspects of the same route.
Marked trails and routes
There are marked hiking trails in and around Lhota U Vsetína that lead to nearby mountain areas and are intended for hikers and cyclists. Cycle Route 46 follows less demanding terrain to Liptál and onward to Vsetín. Route 6121 passes through Horní Potoky and Nivy into the Janišov Valley; Route 6117 leads to Vizovice.
Two other routes start and finish in Lhota U Vsetína: “Kolem pramene Rokytenky” and “Vyhlídka z Kapky”. For these two routes, the village is listed as both the start and finish. The other routes mentioned can be identified by their destinations and intermediate stops; the less demanding terrain is also specified for Route 46.
Crafts and local memorials
The village’s history includes a former tradition of home production. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, shingles, pocket knives, whetstones, glass beads and wicker goods were common products in Lhota U Vsetína. This range, from everyday objects to handcrafted goods, gives the village’s history a distinct focus alongside its landscape.
The Josef Barna Memorial commemorates a fallen soldier of the 1st Czechoslovak Army Corps. Another memorial is dedicated to the victims of the Second World War and is among the locally significant, unprotected monuments. Together, the two memorial sites reflect different connections to the history of the 20th century.
