Napajedla combines marked trails with a distinctive cultural and historical character. The stud farm, castle, museum and late Baroque church each tell a different part of the townâs story; the Lesopark KalvĂĄrie and the BaĆ„a Canal are also part of its character. When choosing your destination, you can weigh up whether architectural history, local history, or walking and cycling trails matter most to you.
Stud Farm, Castle and Town History
The Napajedla Stud Farm is a uniquely well-preserved example of distinctive agricultural architecture from the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. It is associated with organised horse breeding; there is no equivalent elsewhere in the region. The stud farm is a designated cultural monument. Its architecture, horse breeding and protected status form a subject that clearly differs from the townâs other historic buildings.
Napajedla Castle is a detached, U-shaped, two-winged building in the late French Baroque style. The castle includes a historic circular Hall of Mirrors. It is surrounded by a ten-hectare park, laid out mostly in the English style. Numerous rare trees and a romantic pond with water lilies complete the scene. The castle therefore brings together architecture and landscaped grounds as two distinct aspects of the place.
The permanent exhibitions at the Napajedla Museum explore the townâs history and the industrial companies that have significantly influenced life in Napajedla. One permanent exhibition, âHĆiĆĄtÄ hraÄekâ (âToy Playgroundâ), features toys by LibuĆĄe NiklovĂĄ and AlfrĂ©d Klug; it was created by artist Petr Nikl. Visitor access is clearly described: the museum is fully accessible from the courtyard of the New Monastery. The museum also has accessible parking spaces and bicycle racks.
The late Baroque Church of St. Bartholomew can also be placed in its historical context: it was completed in 1712 and consecrated in 1741. Napajedlaâs architectural landmarks thus span the Baroque period through to the architecture of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Marked Trails and Walks
The Stezky NapajedelskĂœch emirĂĄtĆŻ (Trails of the Napajedla Emirates) are a 70-kilometre network of marked trails. They connect Napajedla with the surrounding communities and offer beautiful views. The trails are intended for pedestrians and mountain bikers. The 70 kilometres refer to the entire network, not to a single route. The JablunkovâVelehrad Cyril and Methodius Trail also passes through Napajedla.
Lesopark KalvĂĄrie is on a hill above the town and offers walks with beautiful views. The Lesoparkem KalvĂĄrie educational trail features playful learning elements, animal sounds and information about nature. There is also a forest playground with a climbing element. Individual installations may change over time. The educational trail therefore combines nature topics with playful elements; a walk in the forest park also highlights its hillside setting and views.
BaƄa Canal and Getting Around
The 52-kilometre BaƄa Canal is a historic waterway. It was built between 1935 and 1938 and connected Otrokovice with Rohatec. As a tourist waterway, it offers opportunities for boating, water tourism and cycling. Its cycling offer differs from that of the marked trail network: those trails are intended for pedestrians and mountain bikes, while cycling is mentioned alongside boating and water tourism on the canal.
PĆĂstav Emila Spiro is in the town centre; an identically named harbour is located at the Pahrbek recreation area. If you plan to visit a harbour, check the latest operating information in advance. Pilgrims can refill their drinking water for free in Napajedla. They can also use toilets, Wi-Fi, a phone-charging point, a first-aid kit and luggage storage. These specific services add practical stopping points to the information for getting around, without requiring a particular sightseeing itinerary.
