Velké Přílepy offers several clearly distinct cultural options: a cinema with a recurring film programme, a gallery that requires a prior telephone appointment, and two chapels with their own architectural histories. Depending on your interests, different details matter when planning your visit: the specific screening time at the cinema, arranging your visit to the gallery in advance, and the location and architecture of the chapels. There is also a former granary whose conversion combines the history of the former estate with its use as a restaurant.
Cinema and an autumn event
Outside the summer holidays, Velké Přílepy cinema usually screens films once a month on a Friday. Its schedule typically includes children’s screenings at 15:00 and 17:00, as well as an evening screening at 19:00. The afternoon and evening screenings distinguish the programme by time of day and audience. If you want to see a particular film, plan around the specific screening date: individual screenings and the programme may change.
The Velkopřílepské aviohrátky have a different focus: this traditional autumn event is aimed at families with children and is organised by the Velké Přílepy Model Building Club together with the municipality. Here, the event itself is the reason to visit, unlike the recurring film screenings. As dates and programmes may change, check the latest information before travelling.
Gallery by prior arrangement
The U Korychů Gallery is located in the U Korychů House, on the first floor above a restaurant. Visits are possible only by prior telephone appointment. The gallery is suitable for exhibitions and discussion events. If you would like to attend either of these, arrange your visit by telephone in advance; dropping in spontaneously is not the right way to visit.
Two chapels, different architectural histories
The Chapel of St Gothard was built in 1880 in the Neo-Romanesque style on the site of an earlier Baroque chapel, and has been preserved in its original form. It is in the Kamýk district, on the road to Noutonice and Okoř. The year 1880 refers to the Neo-Romanesque building; the earlier chapel is part of its history.
The Chapel of the Virgin Mary dates from 1725. It is located near the town centre, on the road to Roztoky, on the left-hand side. The two chapels thus differ both in their architectural history and in their locations: for St Gothard, the Neo-Romanesque building and Kamýk are the main points; for the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, the date and its location near the town centre.
A former granary turned restaurant
The historic granary of the former estate was converted into a stylish restaurant. Its history adds a connection to the estate’s former agricultural economy alongside the religious buildings. If you plan to dine there, check the restaurant’s current arrangements in advance.
