The Berounka is a defining feature of Lety: the municipality stretches along both banks of the river and is also situated in the limestone landscape of the Český kras Protected Landscape Area. The river landscape and karst provide the place with a geographical setting; art, history, folk traditions and sporting activities complete the picture. This allows you to choose different focuses for your stay instead of getting to know Lety through just one attraction.

Art along an approximately two-kilometre route

The Mezitím wooden sculpture series was created by six students of the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art under the direction of Agáta Slámová. The works were unveiled in 2021. You can view the series along an approximately two-kilometre route. Both its collaborative creation and a specific route length are therefore part of this art experience. The approximate distance gives you a point of reference for planning your visit without specifying a particular walking time.

If you enjoy combining art and local history on a trip, Mezitím offers a clearly named series with its own viewing route. The distance of around two kilometres refers to this route; it should not be confused with the also-mentioned connection via the Po stopách českých králů cycle path. This keeps viewing the art and planning your journey as two separate considerations.

Early history and cherished traditions

The first written mention of Lety dates from 1088. Archaeological finds place the village among the oldest settlements in Bohemia. The two references tell different aspects of the village’s history: the year marks the first written mention, while the archaeological classification is based on finds. Together, they offer two different ways to understand Lety’s historical significance.

A. B. Svojsík is also connected with Lety and the Berounka: he used a garden cottage in Lety and swam in the river. The anecdote links a local figure with the river, which also shapes the geographical description of the place. Folk traditions, including Masopust, have been celebrated again in Lety since 2000. Early local history, a personal historical connection and the revival of traditional customs thus stand alongside one another as distinct cultural themes.

The Berounka, cycling and padel

The Po stopách českých králů cycle path runs along the Berounka. Lety can be reached on foot or by bicycle via this cycle path. If you plan to use the route to get there, check the route conditions before your trip.

PADEL LETY BEROUNKA in Lety u Dobřichovic offers another activity: an indoor padel court with online reservations. This is a separate sporting option alongside viewing the sculpture series and travelling via the cycle path. If you would like to include padel in your stay, you can factor the online reservation option into your plans.

Your different interests may determine your choice of accommodation: art and history, the river and landscape, or a sporting activity. The local history offers several perspectives across time, while the Mezitím route and the cycle path each provide a concrete point of reference for planning your trip. This makes it possible to assess Lety according to the themes that matter for your stay.
