Two distinct themes come into focus in Statenice: the Baroque castle complex and the Únětický Stream, which flows through the village. The village centre is also home to a monument to those who fell in the world wars. You can focus on castle architecture and local remembrance, or on the stream and its pedestrian route. Architecture, commemorative culture and landscape offer different perspectives on the village.
Castle and Village Centre
Statenice Castle is a protected cultural monument. It is a Baroque, single-storey building with four wings arranged around a rectangular courtyard. These terms describe different features: Baroque refers to the style, single-storey to the height, and the four wings to the layout around the courtyard. This makes it possible to see the complex as a unified castle, with the courtyard as its organising centre. The castle provides a clear focus for a culturally oriented stay. The monument to those who fell in the world wars is in the village centre, about 25 metres east of the castle. The approximate distance places the two sights close together; they can be viewed as two landmarks in the village centre. The castle and the monument represent different aspects of local history: the former is protected as a cultural monument, while the latter commemorates those who fell in the world wars.
By the Únětický Stream
The Únětický Stream flows through Statenice and then through Černý Vůl and Únětice. This sequence of places describes the stream’s course beyond Statenice. The main pedestrian route, which follows the stream, is also useful for finding your way around the village. Three former mills and numerous recreational properties are located close to the stream. The stream, the route and these points offer a different theme from the castle complex, focusing instead on the watercourse and landscape. Trail conditions and markings may change; check them before setting out.
Planning Your Stay
If you need more information about trips or local services, the municipality offers the Statenice mobile app. It includes a tourist guide with trip suggestions, information about the village’s history, local services and businesses. It therefore helps you explore more than individual sights, with ideas for trips as well as information about local services and businesses. The castle and stream provide specific themes for planning your trip; the app complements these perspectives with local history and information.
Events with Specific Dates
A 2026 event announcement from the municipality described the Statenický a Černovolský Masopust as a traditional carnival procession and listed its route as U Potoka, Náměstíčko, U Školy, K Cihleně, Na Kalvárii, Kralupská and Únětická. The municipality also announced a traditional witch-burning event with a witch trail for 30 April 2026. The trail was open from 17:00 to 18:30 at the forest entrance above the Statenka restaurant.
