A museum dedicated to preserves is an unusual introduction to Torrent: the Museu de la Confitura combines local products with courses and workshops. Other points of interest range from a V-shaped dolmen to the remains of an old castle in the town centre. This makes for a mix of gastronomy, archaeology, architectural history and landscape when planning a trip, without any one attraction defining the town on its own.

Preserves and courses

The Museu de la Confitura opened in Torrent on 24 July 2004. Preserves, jams and jellies made with natural ingredients of local origin are produced there; the range may change. The museum holds courses and workshops. If you would like to include one of these in your plans, check the dates in advance.

Archaeology and historic buildings

The Dolmen de Puig Roig (Cementiri dels Moros) is a V-shaped dolmen with a covered gallery. It was built from sandstone and limestone conglomerate slabs. Archaeological finds included pottery, flint tools and pieces of gold leaf. Its shape, building materials and finds offer different points of interest for anyone interested in Torrent’s archaeological heritage.

The remains of an old castle, mentioned in medieval documents, can also be seen in Torrent’s town centre. The farmhouse Can Figa, now better known as Can Joanals, dates from the 17th century and is located in the hamlet of Torrentí. The Església de Sant Vicent is a religious building dating from the 18th century. The castle is set in context by its mention in medieval records, while the century in which each of the two buildings was constructed is the main point of interest for them.

Tradition and former transport routes

The Ermita de Sant Llop is also associated with a recurring custom: an Aplec is held there every year on Santa Llúcia. The former narrow-gauge railway between Girona and Palamós, which ran through Torrent, is also part of the town’s history. It adds a historical transport connection to the architectural and archaeological story.

Views and getting around

Coll dels Revolts de Torrent offers views across the plain towards the Serra del MontgrĂ and the Illes Medes. The best way to get to Torrent is by car. The town centre can be explored on foot, while a bicycle is a good alternative for rural paths.

Planning highlights

To choose activities based on your interests, it helps to distinguish between scheduled events and broader themes: the courses and workshops at the museum are specific events, so you should check their dates in advance. The historic and landscape-related attractions, on the other hand, can be explored through their architectural forms, finds and views. This comparison helps you choose what to focus on without assuming a fixed itinerary.
