A viewing hive with live bees brings the subject of the Čebelarski muzej to life: the museum presents the Carniolan honey bee and Slovenian beekeeping. From May to October, visitors can see the seasonal viewing hive; interactive exhibits complement the experience for all generations. Architecture and Getting Around Radovljica
At Galerija Šivčeva hiša, architecture, painting and illustration come together in one exhibition space. The townhouse itself dates from the second half of the 16th century and is considered an important cultural monument of late Gothic architecture. The gallery thus brings together several artistic fields, while the building itself is also an example of historic architecture. For getting around: the central bus station and the railway station are each about 500 metres from the gallery. Radovljica is also well connected by public transport to Ljubljana, Kranj and Bled. Kropa: Blacksmithing and Routes Through the Town
The Kovaški muzej Kropa reveals the variety found in a single detail of craftsmanship: its collection includes 94 nails in different sizes and shapes. Vigenjc Vice offers another way to discover nail-making. Registered groups can take a guided tour that includes a demonstration of traditional nail forging; visits must be booked in advance. Kropa’s market centre also tells the story of the town’s importance: since 1953, it has been a cultural monument of national importance.
The Krožna pot po Kroparskih znamenitostih is a walking route through Kropa, a former centre of ironworking. It passes the main sights and offers views of the town. This complements the focus on craftsmanship with a route that also takes in the historic townscape and its attractions.
Places of Remembrance and Viewpoints in Begunje
The Muzej talcev in Begunje is housed in former cells of the Gestapo prison. Its walls display prisoners’ records as well as notices issued by the occupying forces. Places designated as cultural monuments of national importance include Graščina Katzenstein with its prisons, the park and cemetery, and Jožamurka and Brezjanka. On the Petrova pot in Begunje, a viewpoint and a hang-gliding launch site are located close to the church.
On the Water and Out Cycling
Those interested in activities on the water will find a range of options: guides lead adventures on the Sava Bohinjka, the Sava Dolinka and the Sava from Radovljica and surrounding towns. The guided experiences vary in difficulty. Tubing on the Sava covers a five-kilometre stretch. This means guided adventures on three named rivers are available alongside a tubing descent with a specified route length.
Cycling can also be combined with cuisine: the long-distance Green Gorumet Route passes through the Radol'ca destination and links cycling with culinary experiences.
