Vlachova Lhota lies on the southern edge of the Vizovice Highlands. Two themes give the village a clear sense of direction: Wallachian folk architecture and routes that pass through the village. House No. 44 and the Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk are tangible reference points for architectural and art history; the marked educational trail, cycle route, and riding route offer different ways to make your stay active. When planning, you can first decide whether you want to focus more on cultural themes or on an activity along a route. The features of the village leave room for both interests without prescribing a fixed daily schedule.

Wallachian Folk Architecture at House No. 44

House No. 44 is an example of 19th-century Wallachian folk architecture. It is a single-storey log building on a stone foundation. Log construction is a building method in which logs are stacked to form the walls; the foundation is the stone base. Single-storey describes the height, log construction the structure, and foundation the base: the three details answer different questions about the architecture. Its regional classification is therefore not the only factor in understanding it. The building method, number of storeys, and construction of the house are also specified. Anyone interested in traditional building styles can understand the example through these features and compare it with the much older Baroque statue.

Artwork, Exhibition, and Remembrance

The Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dates from 1739. With its 19th-century classification, House No. 44 represents a later period. On 5 May 2012, the permanent exhibition “Řídící učitel Janeček a jeho žáci” was opened in Vlachova Lhota. A reconstructed memorial to the victims of the Second World War was unveiled on the same day. These dates span a Baroque artwork, folk architecture, and two events from the more recent history of the village. The statue, house, exhibition, and memorial represent different cultural themes: art, building traditions, and remembrance can be considered separately rather than assigned to a single period.

The Ploština Microregion Fire Museum is located in municipal building No. 81. If you would like to include it in your plans, check in advance whether a visit is possible.

Choose Local Routes by Activity

The marked local educational trail “KOLA, KOPYTA, BOTY” passes through Vlachova Lhota. A cycle route also runs through the village. The HYJÉ KONĚ Zlínského kraje riding route also passes through Vlachova Lhota. This gives you three different types of activity: a themed educational trail, cycling, and horseback riding. Your preferred kind of outing is a useful starting point when choosing. The routes offer different ways to connect with the village; you can choose according to your own plans without treating them as a single set itinerary.
