A medieval fortress site, a Gothic tracery keystone and a singletrack trail with technical descents give Mysločovice a range of distinct highlights. Architectural history and cycling sit alongside a landscape that includes both lowland and hilly terrain. Local customs also follow different rhythms. This makes it easy to plan your trip around historical details, cycling routes or a particular local tradition.

Traces of the Medieval Fortress

An archaeological mound was discovered in the town centre on the grounds of farmstead No. 9 and identified as the core of a medieval fortress with an earthen rampart. The surviving core of the fortress rises in places up to five metres above the surrounding terrain and is 23 metres long and 13 metres wide.

On the same farmstead, an oval Gothic vault keystone is set into the brick wall of the barn. The term refers to the stone that closes a vault at its top. Its inner face bears a stylised Gothic tracery motif. The two details differ in scale: here, the dimensions of a fortress core; there, the single architectural motif of the keystone.

Palkův mlýn is another of the town’s historical landmarks. The mill is mentioned around 1409, when it was owned by Jiřík z Kunštátu and his sister Žofka. Some of the mill’s original fittings have been preserved.

Cycling on a Variety of Routes

Cyklopark Mysločovice is a small, fun singletrack that even young children can ride, while also appealing to experienced mountain bikers. The route winds through the trees, with climbs and technical descents. Some sections cross wooden bridges over gullies and depressions.

Marked cycle route No. 5034 is different: it runs from Fryšták to Kelč through the cadastral area of Mysločovice. The distinction is practical: Cyklopark is all about the character of a singletrack and its technical sections, while cycle route No. 5034 is a marked connection between Fryšták and Kelč.

Another cycle path opened in autumn 2011, connecting Mysločovice and Sazovice. It was about one kilometre long, unmarked and also intended for pedestrians.

Landscape and Local Customs

The landscape of Mysločovice combines lowland in the Svodnice basin with predominantly agricultural, hilly terrain. It is therefore neither purely flat nor exclusively hilly. At 285 metres above sea level, Háj is the highest point in the area, adding a specific elevation to the description of the landscape.

Local customs follow distinctly different rhythms. Each year, the SDH observes the Shrovetide tradition of “vodění medvěda” (the bear procession) in Mysločovice. By contrast, “Staré hanácké právo” is held every ten years in Haná folk costumes. The recorded years in which it took place are 1928, 1949, 1965, 1977, 1987, 1997, 2007 and, most recently, 2017. If you plan to visit for a particular tradition, check the event dates in advance.
