Oldřichovice brings together a modern church, a long history and marked regional trails. You can get to know the place through its cultural connections as well as by hiking or cycling. When choosing a holiday apartment, it is worth thinking in advance about which of these interests you would like to shape your stay.
Local History and Regional Traditions
Oldřichovice is documented in writing from 3 April 1337. In the first half of the 14th century, the village belonged to the Podhradí estate. Local traditions also reflect its location at the meeting point of Slovácko, Wallachia and Haná. Until 1880, Oldřichovice had its own men’s and women’s folk costumes—a historical custom that should be distinguished from present-day events.
A regular sports memorial tournament honours Miloš Skácel. It offers a different way to experience local life than the historical connections and architectural history. If you want to plan your trip around an event, check the specific date in advance.
The Church of St. Zdislava was built between 1994 and 1997. The architect Martin Tomešek designed the modern building; it was consecrated by Auxiliary Bishop Josef Hrdlička. The church thus combines a relatively recent architectural history with the cultural history of the place. In 2023, a stage of the pilgrimage from Štípa to Napajedla also passed through Oldřichovice, at St. Zdislava.
Walking and Cycling Trails in the Surrounding Area
The Stezky napajedelských emirátů (Trails of the Napajedla Emirates) comprise around 70 kilometres of marked routes. The trail network connects Napajedla with surrounding communities, including Oldřichovice, and offers views. The trails are intended for pedestrians and cyclists, including mountain bikers. Information boards along the routes provide details about points of interest such as fortresses, ruins and monuments.
The different details can help you decide how you would like to explore the area: on foot or by bike. The information boards add a cultural dimension, while the views describe another aspect of the trails. The approximately 70 kilometres refer to the marked network as a whole; Oldřichovice is one of the connected places. Oldřichovice itself lies in the hills above Malenovice, between Pohořelice and Karlovice.
Getting There and Choosing Accommodation
Oldřichovice is connected to the rail network via Napajedla, which is five kilometres away. The station is on line 330 between Přerov and Břeclav. If you travel by train, you can use this connection as a guide when planning; check suitable train times before your trip and consider how you will cover the remaining distance.
By car, the road to Oldřichovice branches off the first-class road I/55, which runs between Otrokovice and Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště. The rail connection via Napajedla and the road to Oldřichovice offer different ways of getting there. You can plan your stay to suit your interests without combining the place’s various cultural and natural aspects into a fixed itinerary.
