A nature trail reaching above Pašovice, the construction history of the “Chapel of the Holy Trinity” and cultural monuments in Javorovec offer different ways to discover Mistřice. When planning your trip, it is worth distinguishing between the longer route and individual historical sites: this way, you can see at a glance whether you would like to focus on the landscape, a cycling trip, or chapels and crosses.

Nature trail and paths through the landscape

The “Po hranici devíti katastrů” nature trail runs from Mistřice to the Hrabiny fields above Pašovice and is about nine kilometres long. It is well signposted, with more than ten educational and information boards and direction signs. The route therefore has a clear course and numerous waypoints. If you are planning how much time to set aside for an outing, its approximate length is a useful guide; no walking time is specified. The trail is also suitable for cycling, so you can consider it for a bike ride as well.

The Cyrilometodějská stezka between Maršov and Uherské Hradiště, which passes through Pašovice and Mistřice, offers another point of reference. Both route descriptions mention Mistřice, but differ in their endpoints: the described nature trail reaches the Hrabiny fields above Pašovice, while the Cyrilometodějská stezka runs between the two places named. This information can help you choose the route whose course best suits your planned outing.

Nature and crosses along the nature trail

The nature trail passes through the Prakšická vrchovina, which is described as having rich fauna and flora. It also runs near Rovná hora, the highest point that extends into the nature reserve of the same name. This route therefore highlights both the trail itself and its landscape and natural surroundings. At the start of the nature trail above Mistřice, you can visit the Bilavčíkův kříž.

This cross is also associated with a historical interpretation. Historical sources link the Bilavčíkův kříž to a place where a battle may have taken place between the troops of the Bohemian King Jiřík of Poděbrady and the Hungarian King Matthias Corvinus. The battle is recorded as a possibility, not as a confirmed location. The cross can therefore be viewed both as a monument at the start of the nature trail and in connection with this uncertain historical account.

Chapels and construction history

The “Chapel of the Holy Trinity” in Mistřice dates from 1874 to 1883. Construction began in 1874, was interrupted by a devastating fire, and was completed in 1883. The chapel was consecrated on 10 November 1884. The construction period and consecration therefore took place in different years. Inside are paintings by the painter Kubíček and statues of the Virgin Mary, Saint Wenceslas, Saint Florian, Saint Teresa and Saint Anne. The chapel thus combines a clearly traceable construction history with specific features of its interior.

Javorovec also has historical sights. The chapel there is Baroque. Above the brick tomb of František Josef Bulín, his family had a brick chapel built and dedicated to the Virgin Mary; the dedication is associated with gratitude for the end of a plague epidemic. Above Javorovec, a cross dating from 1740 also stands beside the old road to Uherské Hradiště. The cross bears a cryptogram in Old Czech. These details offer different points of interest for a visit: the chapel’s architectural style, its dedication, or the inscription on the historic cross.
