Hradčovice offers specific ways to enjoy a stay focused on nature, views and local history. Local highlights range from nature trails to an observation tower in Lhotka and the All Saints’ parish church, whose construction dates back to the 13th century. Which of these themes you choose to focus on can shape your choice of excursions.

Two educational trails with different focuses

The marked “Hradčovice–Drslavice” educational trail is five kilometres long, focuses on natural history and begins in Hradčovice village square. Its stops tell visitors and passers-by about the area’s valuable fauna and flora. In good weather, the route offers views of the Poolšaví landscape.

The well-signposted “Po hranici devíti katastrů” educational trail can be accessed from Hradčovice. It is about nine kilometres long and is also suitable for cycling. The two trails therefore offer different experiences: the five-kilometre route focuses on natural history at its stops, while the longer trail’s key features are its clear signposting, access from Hradčovice and suitability for cycling.

Rovná Hora Nature Reserve

Rovná Hora Nature Reserve lies 1.3 kilometres north of Hradčovice, in the cadastral area of Lhotka. It protects a rich variety of endangered insects, especially butterflies. The “Hradčovice–Drslavice” educational trail runs along the edge of the reserve.

The nature-related attractions have different focuses: the educational trail’s stops cover the area’s fauna and flora, while Rovná Hora focuses on protecting endangered insects, particularly butterflies. This offers two distinct ways to engage with nature: information along a route and a specific protected area.

Observation tower in Lhotka

The observation tower is in Lhotka, a district belonging to the municipality of Hradčovice. It is 35 metres high, and its viewing platform is 18 metres above the ground. From there, you can see the White Carpathians and Mount Velká Javořina. The height figures distinguish the full height of the tower from that of the platform, from which these sights are visible.

Church and local history

The All Saints’ parish church stands on the site of the original cemetery precinct in Hradčovice. It was enclosed by a wall with pillars in front of it. Architecturally, the church is an east-facing, single-nave building with a rectangular floor plan, a short transept and a set-back, three-sided chancel. A four-sided bell tower is attached to the façade. The oldest phase of construction dates back to the 13th century.

Local history also includes other historical connections. In 1360, a fortress in Hradčovice was owned by Oneš ze Šarova. The historic Vrchová cesta connected Uherský Brod with Uherské Hradiště and possibly with other places in northern Moravia as well.

Getting there by train

Hradčovice railway station is on line 341 between Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště and the Vlárský průsmyk, as well as on the Újezdec u Luhačovic–Luhačovice line.
