Koroužné lies in the Svratka Valley, south of Bystřice nad Pernštejnem. At Koroužné, the river curves from northeast to southwest around the village. Together with the mining traces and the water management educational trail, this provides specific landscape and cultural-historical points of interest to help you choose a destination.

Landscape and Local Tradition

About half a kilometre upstream from Koroužné, the Svratka forms the Hastrmanka pool. According to local tradition, it is associated with a water spirit. Here, precise geographical orientation sits alongside a local tale: the course of the river describes the location, while the tradition gives the pool its own cultural significance.

Mining Traces and Visiting Conditions

The Korouženská štola is 104 metres long. It lies about 200 metres northeast of the bridge in Koroužné, at the foot of a steep, wooded slope and to the right of the road from Koroužné to Vír. A condition report dated 24 August 2026 states that metal doors seal the entrance and that the front section is flooded to a depth of up to one metre. Check the current situation before visiting.

Důl sv. Felixe (Zemanovo pole) also preserves remains of silver ore mining in Koroužné. The recorded relics include a shaft depression about ten metres in diameter, the remains of an inclined shaft and large spoil heaps. The condition report dated 24 August 2026 states that the entrances had completely collapsed and were partly filled with waste. The two mining sites therefore differ both in their visible traces and in their recorded access conditions.

Educational Trail and Nature near Švařec

The Svratka Water Management Educational Trail runs from Dalečín through the Svratka Valley to Švařec. After the section by the Vír II Reservoir, it passes through Koroužné and Švařec. Two scales are useful for orientation: Dalečín to Švařec describes the full route, while the second reference places Koroužné on the section after the reservoir.

The Švařec National Natural Monument protects a valuable complex of submontane meadows and pastures on the right bank of the Brťovský potok near Švařec. These include scattered junipers on a steep south-facing slope in the Svratka Valley. This protected area adds a specifically identified landscape type to the river and mining themes; its description refers to the area near Švařec.

Cultural and Landscape Heritage in Švařec

The Chapel of the Holy Trinity in Švařec is a former miners’ place of worship dating from the 13th century. It has survived to this day with only a few later structural changes, is a state-protected immovable cultural monument and is considered a unique example of vernacular sacred architecture. Its close association with local mining links the building’s history with another aspect of the region’s mining tradition.

The covered wooden bridge near Švařec is another specific architectural landmark: it is 22 metres long and two metres wide. It was repaired in 1982 and is currently considered to be in good technical condition. Check its condition before your visit.
