Blanné offers two distinct perspectives to consider when choosing a destination: its location on the western edge of Jevišovka Nature Park and a local history that ranges from its founding at the site of the abandoned Planský Mill to community traditions. If you are planning a stay, you can consider the natural setting and local history separately: the location places the village geographically, while the dated events offer insights into its historical community life.

Location in Jevišovka Nature Park

Blanné lies on the western edge of Jevišovka Nature Park. The Blanenský Pond was also created on the western edge of the village. The nature park places Blanné within a larger landscape, while the pond identifies a landscape feature on the edge of the village. These different geographical scales help distinguish the village’s location within the natural area from a specific point of reference in its surroundings.

Blanné lies near the road connecting Jihlava and Znojmo. This connection can help with finding your bearings. If you include it in your travel plans, check the current route in advance, as conditions can change.

Founding and name

Blanné was founded in 1738 at the site of the abandoned Planský Mill. The abandoned mill site is the specific local reference point in the story of the village’s founding. The current spelling, “Blanné,” was introduced in 1924. The two years mark different chapters: 1738 denotes the founding at the mill site, while 1924 marks the introduction of the current form of the name. The village’s history can thus be traced both through its beginnings and through a later change to its name.

Traditions and community projects

In 2011, the Easter rattling tradition, a local custom, was revived after several years. Also in 2011, residents gathered on the village green to erect a maypole. These examples relate to different occasions: an Easter custom and a community gathering on the village green. They complement the story of the village’s founding and name with specific examples of local community life.

In 2012, children and residents worked together to make Christmas lanterns for the residents. That same year, children, with help from adults, created the “Bylinková zahrádka” herb garden. The two projects differed in form: the lanterns involved making something together for the residents, while the garden involved jointly creating an area for herbs.

On 5 July 2013, Blanné held a children’s day attended by about 35 children. The programme included a race for the “Blaněnského smajlíka.” Alongside the traditions and community projects, this provides a children’s day with a specific date and a named activity. When choosing a destination, you can thus consider two perspectives together: the geographical location by the nature park and the history of local community life.
