Kravsko Castle, the former Kocanda ceramics factory and the remains of a manor brewery reveal different sides of the town: architecture, industrial history and historic trades. The Mlynářská stezka also passes through Kravsko. Visitors planning a trip around specific cultural themes or a possible cycling route will find several distinct options here.

Castle, Chapel and Architectural History

The castle is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. It has two storeys and is Neoclassical in style. In front of its courtyard of honour stands a Rococo statue of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, dated 1847. The castle and the statue offer two different perspectives on the architectural heritage: the design of a castle building and a work of art at its courtyard of honour with a specific date.

The Chapel of Panny Marie Pomocnice can also be considered in terms of its architectural form. It is simply designed, with a rectangular floor plan and a semicircular apse; a prismatic bell tower stands in front of the building. The apse is the semicircular part at the end of a sacred space. Kravsko’s original residence can be dated approximately to around 1740 and was intended for an abbot. The differing levels of precision are important when considering the dates: the residence has an approximate date, while the statue is assigned a specific year.

Kocanda: Ceramics History and Later Use

The Kocanda complex brings together art-historical and technical heritage. The ceramics factory was founded in 1823. Between 2017 and 2020, the former factory was converted into a guesthouse and a venue for social events. Kocanda thus brings together an industrial past and the complex’s later use. Wine tastings are also offered at Kocanda on site. If you would like to include a tasting in your travel plans, check the current dates in advance.

Remains of the Former Brewery

The former manor brewery lies below the castle hill. Šebestián Freytag z Čepiroh founded it in 1579; beer was brewed there until 1899. The cellar areas are in varying states of preservation: one section has been restored, while another remains in its original form. This contrast offers a distinct perspective on the architectural history of the former industrial site. If the condition of the cellar areas is important to your plans, confirm it before visiting.

Cycling Route and Castle Park

For cyclists, the Mlynářská stezka is a specific point of interest in Kravsko: it passes through the town and connects the Vysočina Region with South Moravia and Lower Austria. Check route conditions before setting off. The Stezka Zámeckým parkem KRAVSKO is a separate trail. It was created as a nature trail approximately 2.1 kilometres long, with nine stops, and is rated easy. At the same time, it has not been maintained for a long time and is outdated. The easy rating therefore does not replace checking current conditions before firmly including the trail in your plans.

As of June 2026, the castle park was open to the public and included a pond; at the same time, the area was considered poorly maintained. The Mlynářská stezka and the park nature trail represent different planning priorities: a route with regional connections and a nature trail in the castle park. Take the condition of each into account before basing your plans on it.
