Explore Žarošice through specific cultural experiences: church architecture and interior decoration, a pilgrimage with an evening procession, and a museum with its own workshop offer different ways to shape your trip. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can first decide whether a particular event should determine your travel dates or whether local history and the museum should take centre stage.

Church and Religious Tradition

Kostel sv. Anny was built in 1801 on the site of the former church. Its interior decoration is by the Slovak painter Jano Köhler, who came from Strážovice. This building thus brings together two historical points of reference: its location connects it to a former church, while its decoration is associated with the artist from Strážovice. The church in Žarošice is open and offers opportunities for prayer, confession and the celebration of the Eucharist. A visit can therefore encompass both the building’s history and paintings, as well as a religious occasion.

Museum, Workshop and Former Spa History

The Žarošice municipal museum has six permanent exhibition areas. A screw wine press dating from 1805 is on display there, making a piece of wine-making equipment tangible as a historical object. In the museum workshop, visitors can try making products themselves using old recipes and taste them. These offer two different ways to engage: the press is an exhibit, while the workshop is a hands-on activity with a tasting.

Zdravá Voda also broadens the view of local history. Its healing springs were used for cures for many centuries; in the 18th century, an abbess of the Old Brno Convent founded a bathing establishment there. This former spa tradition adds to Žarošice’s religious and museum themes.

Festivals with Different Focuses

Zlatá sobota takes place every year on the second Saturday in September and is the largest pilgrimage from Žarošice to Stará Matka Boží. Its highlight is an evening liturgy followed by a procession: illuminated statues of the Virgin Mary are carried on platforms as Marian hymns are sung. The set September date and religious programme make this a clearly defined reason to travel.

In August, Žarošice celebrates the harvest festival, dožínky, in traditional costume. The Císařské krojované hody take place in October: they last almost five days and include raising a maypole, singing and dancing. Each occasion has a different focus: pilgrimage and procession in September, the harvest festival in August, and several days of traditional festivities with singing and dancing in October. If you want to experience a festival, check the specific event dates before booking.

Plan Your Stay Around the Occasion

The occasion is a useful first filter when looking for a holiday apartment. If you want a festival to shape your stay, plan your travel dates around the programme you would like to experience. If the church, museum or history of Zdravá Voda is your main interest, these can provide the cultural focus for your search.
