Discover Tvarozná Lhota through three clear themes: trails through the landscape, the tradition surrounding the service tree, and rural vernacular architecture. The Oskorušová educational trail leads from Tvarožná Lhota through the foothills of the Bílé Karpaty to Radějov and Mount Žerotín; other trails run through the Vojšické Meadows. Lučina reservoir, a lookout point and several cultural sites add further themes. You can plan your trip around whether you prefer hiking, cycling, exploring nature or learning about regional architecture.

Educational Trails Through Meadows and the Carpathian Foothills

The educational trails each focus on different themes. Oskorušová leads through the foothills of the Bílé Karpaty and is marked with a red diagonal stripe. Orchidejová runs through the Vojšické Meadows complex and the surrounding area in the Bílé Karpaty. Rare orchids and other protected plants grow along the trail. It is 15 kilometres long and can be started at the Lučina recreational area. Check local trail conditions before setting out.

The difference is clear when choosing a nature-themed route: Oskorušová connects Tvarožná Lhota with Radějov and Mount Žerotín, while Orchidejová is defined by its length and meadow landscape. Blue-, yellow- and green-marked hiking trails, as well as cycle route No. 46, also run around Lučina. The area around the reservoir is suitable for hiking and cycling. Lučina itself is an artificial reservoir in the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area.

Lučina, Mountain Biking and Views

The Trail of Life starts at the Lučina recreational area. It includes mountain-bike routes and natural singletrack trails through the landscape of the Bílé Karpaty. There is also a large pump track and a small skills centre.

Another specific highlight is the Rozhledna Travičná lookout tower. It stands in the cadastral area of Tvarožná Lhota, in a location known as Vrchy. On maps, the location appears as Travičná—the name of the summit of a 380-metre-high hill. The viewing platform is reached by climbing 177 steps and is 34 metres above the ground. The atrium below the tower houses a permanent exhibition on the nature and culture of the Bílé Karpaty and service trees.

Service Trees and Regional Vernacular Architecture

The Muzeum oskeruší is dedicated to agriculture, folk architecture, food and gastronomy. It is associated with the Oskorušová educational trail, which features protected, magnificent service trees. These include the Adamcova oskoruše, estimated to be about 500 years old. The service tree is thus a theme not only of the museum but also a striking natural feature along the educational trail.

The listed Rolnický dům at house number 187 in Tvarožná Lhota offers a different glimpse of rural architecture. This earthen house dates from the late 18th century and retains its original layout, with a hallway, living room and chamber. Its traditional materials include unfired bricks, hand-hewn timber and forged nails. The layout and traditional building materials give the house a character of its own alongside the nature-focused themes of the educational trails.

The Salaš Travičná grounds also contain a small museum about the timber-built Kopaničář structures of a salaš. An arboretum showcases 23 native woody species of the Bílé Karpaty. There is also a playground with play equipment made from natural materials, including walk-through “mouse tunnels”.

Events Throughout the Year

Oskorušobraní takes place every year on the third weekend in September at the Salaš Travičná grounds; the date and programme may vary from year to year. At the 2026 edition, visitors were able to see and taste various varieties of service tree fruit. February also brings the costumed Fašank and Slavnost oskeruší, local cultural events. Their dates vary each year. If you are planning a trip specifically for a festival, check the programme for that year.
