Jabloňany combines a clearly defined valley setting with a chapel in the village square and several cycling route connections. These details offer different points of reference when choosing the destination: landscape, architecture, a traditional event and route connections.
Setting between waterways and hills
Jabloňany lies between the Úmoří stream and the Svitava River, in a valley between the wooded hills of Fáberka (445 m) and Voskovice (428 m). At 445 m, Fáberka is 17 m higher than Voskovice, at 428 m. Visitors who give greater weight to the landscape than to individual cultural sites will find a specific geographical setting here: two named waterways, a valley and wooded hills.
Choose a cycling route by its geographical connection
Cyclists should not treat the route numbers as interchangeable references: they describe different geographical connections. Route 5201 runs from Černá Hora via Chrudichromy, Bořitov, Huť sv. Antonie, Krhov, Jabloňany, Skalice nad Svitavou and Mladkov. Route 5201A connects Jabloňany and Obora; route 5143 passes through Jabloňany. The first description therefore lists several places in sequence, the second connects two places, and the third describes a route through the village itself. The route information for 5143 was last updated in 2016; check the signage locally. This distinction helps you identify a route number by the geographical connection you want, rather than by its designation alone.
The cycling route information describes routes or connections, while the information about the Úmoří, Svitava, Fáberka and Voskovice describes the village’s setting. This makes it possible to distinguish route planning from geographical orientation.
Chapel and Baroque art
The Chapel of Sts. Cyril and Methodius stands in the middle of Jabloňany’s village square. In front of it are an iron-cast representation of a cross with an enclosure and a Baroque statue of St. John of Nepomuk. The Baroque sculpture of St. John of Nepomuk has a volute pedestal and semi-relief panels. Volutes are rolled, spiral-like forms that feature in the design of the pedestal. Semi-relief panels project three-dimensionally from their background while remaining connected to it. The two terms describe different aspects of the statue: the construction of its base and the sculptural treatment of its surface.
Cultural event and arrival
Rozloučení s prázdninami is a traditional cultural event held at the Luh sports complex in Jabloňany. The 2024 programme included, among other things, a bouncy castle, football darts, target water spraying, an obstacle course, archery, car rides and horseback rides. In this dated example, the range of activities extends from skill and movement activities to rides; however, it does not necessarily describe the programme for another date. Individual programmes may vary. If the event affects your travel dates, check the dates and the programme for that event.
There is a bus stop with a shelter in the centre of Jabloňany. Check the condition of the facility when you arrive.
