The stream running through the village, the Church of St Peter and Paul, built in 1835, and the preserved boundary stone at the edge of the forest provide points of reference in Lubník’s landscape and history. There are also events with different time frames: the annual Lubnická pouť and a wine tasting in May 2026.
Landscape, stream and cycling route
Lubník lies in the rolling landscape in the eastern part of the Podorlická Uplands. The Lubnický potok, one of the smaller left-bank tributaries of the Moravská Sázava, flows through the village. This hydrological designation also places the stream within a larger river system; “left” describes the position of the tributary when looking downstream. Two scales therefore help locate Lubník geographically: the landscape of the Podorlická Uplands and the stream that flows through the village. A marked local cycling route also runs through the southern part of the village. Check the signs before setting off.
Church and historical traces
The Church of St Peter and Paul is a rural, single-nave Empire-style church dating from 1835. A small tower rises above the façade. The building replaced a wooden structure and was erected at the expense of the owners of the estate, the Liechtensteins. A single-nave building is arranged around one main nave; together, its style, tower and date of construction provide a specific architectural context. The building’s history also connects the church with its wooden predecessor and the estate’s owners at the time.
At the edge of the forest, a preserved boundary stone marks the former provincial border. It adds a different kind of historical trace to the church’s history: rather than a building, it points to a former territorial boundary. At the cemetery cross, a new bilingual plaque in Czech and German commemorates former residents of Lubník who found their final resting place there.
A municipal notice dated 30 July 2026 announced plans to install a restored marble cross from 1922 in the local cemetery. The five-part cross is considered a small sacred monument of the municipality, crafted to a high standard. Check locally to see whether it has since been installed.
Festivals and dated events
The traditional Lubnická pouť takes place every year to welcome summer and the approaching summer holidays. Its date varies from year to year. A Sunday football match is part of the traditional programme, with Lubník playing a team from Cotkytle; the teams and fixture may change. A swing carousel, a boating pool and a shooting gallery are also listed as children’s attractions for the 2023 edition. These programme items may differ in other years. If you are travelling specifically for the Pouť, check its date and programme for that year.
At Vinné ladění on 15 May 2026, a public wine tasting featured 30 to 40 samples presented by the Poklady z Moravy wine shop. The CML dulcimer band from Šumperk provided the musical accompaniment for this edition. If you are planning your trip around an event, check its date and programme. For context, the Pouť returns annually on a changing date; the wine samples and music mentioned here were part of the specific edition held on 15 May 2026.
