Křížová hora rises east of Červená Voda to 735 metres above sea level. The viewing platform on the observation tower is 25 metres above the ground; from there, the view extends across a large part of the Kladská Basin. Views, hiking trails and cultural history offer different ways to shape a stay in Cervená Voda.

Hiking and Views at Křížová hora

A yellow-marked ridge trail leads from the centre of Červená Voda to the observation tower. Check trail conditions before setting out. Below the mountain, the Mokřiny nature reserve borders the access route.

The nature trail offers a different perspective on Křížová hora: it is approximately 3 kilometres long and has five stops with information about local history and nature. So, when walking the trail, the focus is not only on the landscape and views, but also on the topics covered at the stops. Its approximate length and number of stops help distinguish it as a separate attraction alongside the observation tower.

If you enjoy learning more about local nature and history, this thematic focus offers a different way to experience the area than the view from the tower. Both descriptions highlight specific features: the platform and views on the one hand, and the nature trail stops on the other. You can decide which will play a greater part in your trip based on your interests.

Local History and Special Trails

The Červená Voda Museum of Memories and Nature is on the first floor of the building and can be reached by lift. As access arrangements may change, check the current visitor information before your visit. For planning purposes, the museum’s location in the building is as relevant as the lift access.

The area’s architectural history is another reason to learn about Červená Voda: the Church of St. Matthew is early Baroque and was built between 1683 and 1686. In Šanov, Červená Voda, stands a sculpture group of the Holy Trinity, which has been protected as a cultural monument since 11 August 2020. Both examples offer a historical perspective on different forms of cultural heritage.

The Hraběcí nature trail offers a different focus. It is associated with a fairy tale, and wooden animal sculptures by Mr Bubák stand at several points along the way. While the Křížová hora nature trail brings together information about history and nature at five stops, the Hraběcí trail is characterised by its fairy-tale story and animal figures.

Winter and Cycling as Other Highlights

The Červená Voda ski park is in the Mlýnický Dvůr district of Červená Voda. Its features include a 2,150-metre downhill run and a heated four-seat chairlift. The lift operates seasonally; the exact piste configuration can also change from season to season. If you are planning to visit the ski park during your trip, check the current seasonal operating schedule.

For cycling, the Červená Voda–Králíky cycle path is another option: it is 3,960 metres long. Alongside hiking and nature trails, cycling and seasonal winter sports offer different interests to consider when choosing a destination. A useful comparison of these activities starts with what you want to experience and the conditions you should check in advance.

You can consider the different highlights separately when choosing your stay: views and the ridge trail, themed trails, local history, cycling or the seasonal ski park.
