Hrádek lies at the foot of the Orlické Mountains. Its steep, hilly terrain and surrounding mixed forests provide habitats for wildlife. Nature and local history are reflected in clearly distinguishable features: valley, stream, spring, rock face and historical milestones. A walk through Husí Krk is estimated to take about two hours.
Hilly landscape and notable natural features
The Hrádecké Valley lies below Hrádek and is part of Orlice Nature Park. A blue-marked hiking trail crosses the section of the valley near Hrádek. Babí skála, a marl rock face, lies in the left-hand part of the Husí Krk valley. Hiking trail markings may change; check the current route before setting out. The valley is the landscape, and the blue-marked hiking trail is the route through this section. Babí skála is a marl rock face in the left-hand part of the valley; this helps distinguish the landscape, trail and natural feature for navigation.
The Štěpánka spring emerges from the ground in the green areas around Hrádek. A monumental lime tree stands in what might be considered the village square.
Walk, rest stop and cave
Husí Krk is a local biocorridor along the Řetovka stream. A walk there is described as about 5 km and roughly two hours. Together, the distance and duration provide a rough guide for planning this walk. As route conditions may change, check the current situation before setting out.
The pleasant Štěpánka rest stop lies at the edge of the forest near Hrádek. A three-metre descent leads to it from a blue-marked trail. Before visiting, it is worth checking the water level and the condition of the facilities on site.
Partyzánská Cave is an approximately 9 m long, easily accessible passage of pseudokarst origin. It formed as marl weathered out along nearly vertical fissures.
Comparing the natural attractions reveals different scales: the walk is described by its distance and approximate duration, while the cave passage is described by its length and formation. This makes it possible to distinguish a time-defined walking activity from a single geological attraction.
Local history across several milestones
Hrádek is documented in writing from 29 August 1432. The present-day village was founded in 1691 by Jan Bedřich Trautmansdorf. Hrádek’s written record dates from 29 August 1432; the present-day village was founded in 1691. A written entry for Kubasův mlýn survives from 1544. In February 1945, a death march of about 3,000 prisoners passed through Hrádek. The local history thus encompasses early written records and the village’s founding, as well as the history of the mill and a tragic wartime event.
