Jindrichov brings together churches and chapels in several districts, an annual festival, traces of past uses and varied landscapes. When planning your stay, you can choose what to focus on according to your interests: religious architectural history, nature or cycling. The individual places offer specific points of interest for each.
Landscapes and Nature in Habartice and Nové Losiny
The Františkov Nature Reserve is located in the cadastral area of Nové Losiny, within the municipality of Jindřichov. In Habartice, mountain meadows alternate with forests, and on fine days there are panoramic views. The Habartická linden tree, also designated a natural monument, is also in Habartice. For planning nature-focused activities, you can choose between a designated reserve, a landscape of meadows and forests, and a single protected tree, each offering a different theme.
Churches, a Chapel and a Festival in August
The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary in Habartice was built by non-Catholics before the Battle of White Mountain. In 1842, it was remodelled into its present form. The Church of Saint Isidore in Nové Losiny was built between 1711 and 1714 and extensively remodelled between 1777 and 1820. A large painting of its patron saint adorns the main altar. Those interested in architectural history will find two distinct periods to explore; in Nové Losiny, there is also the specific detail of the altar painting.
On the hill above Pusté Žibřidovice stands a church dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene. In Pekařov, the cemetery chapel of the Assumption of Mary was built by local residents in the first half of the 19th century. The Pekařov Pilgrimage Festival takes place every year in mid-August to mark the Feast of the Assumption of Mary. If you would like to plan your trip around this festival, check the specific event dates in advance.
Historical Traces near Habartice and PleÄŤe
In the cadastral area of Habartice, a paper mill was built in the mid-19th century on the site of a former mill. In the forest above the settlement of PleÄŤe are the remains of a former castle site, whose historical name is unknown. Archaeological finds date its construction to the mid-14th century and its destruction to the mid-15th century. The paper mill offers insight into a former use of the mill site; the castle site provides a different perspective on the past, based on archaeological dating.
