A medieval church, historic monuments and the artificial Lake Hosena give Dubicko a range of different facets. During your stay, you can combine local history with nature or focus on a specific event. The sights vary considerably: some tell the story of architecture and law, while others are connected to the landscape around the lake.

Church and historic landmarks

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross has a medieval core and a bell dating from 1476. These two features highlight different aspects of its history: the core points to the age of the building, while the bell’s year provides a precisely dated reference point. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dates from 1889 and adds to this picture of local history.

The reconciliation cross is not associated with a single year. It illustrates how criminal law developed in the Middle Ages and continued to have an influence into the early modern period. Its historical significance therefore differs from the dated landmarks at the church and statue. The cube-shaped wayside shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi is another distinctive local feature: it stands on the left-hand side of the road to Hrabová.

Lake Hosena and its landscape

Two distinct features can be observed at the artificial Lake Hosena. Oaks, ash trees and birches grow on an island, while the northeastern shore zone is shallow and provides a habitat for aquatic organisms. The island is characterised by its vegetation, while the shore is distinguished by its shallow waters and ecological function. For nature enthusiasts, these features offer a different way to experience Dubicko alongside its historical landmarks.

Events with different focuses

The 12th DUBIÁDA (2026) is a sports afternoon for children at the multi-purpose grounds behind the Sokol clubhouse in Dubicko. A different kind of event took place in 2025: the “Pochod ke sv. Josefu”, a 9.5-kilometre hiking event in Dubicko. The examples differ in both format and stated distance: children’s sports versus a hike with a specified route length.

The fourth edition of Masopust in 2026 features a masked procession with the symbolic burial of the double bass, as well as butcher’s specialities and hot drinks. This is a different kind of event from the sports afternoon or the hike: the focus here is on the procession and a symbolic conclusion. If you want to plan your trip around a date, check the specific event dates before making your plans.

Fishing as a club activity

The Dubicko municipal fishing club uses the Hosena fishing grounds and organises fishing competitions for children and adults. The dates of these competitions vary. This adds an organised club activity to the lake’s landscape features. If you are interested in a competition, check the relevant date in advance. The activities described thus offer different starting points for planning your trip: historic landmarks, the lakeshore landscape and events held on specific dates.
