Hraběšice combines mostly forested highlands with a local history dating back to its first written mention in 1569, and a ski park offering activities in different seasons. The cadastral area covers 617 hectares and lies along the upper course of the Hraběšický potok stream and the road from Šumperk and Nový Malín to Rudoltice. This brings together scenery, historic buildings and seasonal leisure activities for your travel planning. You can give them different emphasis depending on your interests and when you travel.

Forested Highlands and Local History

The cadastral area consists mostly of forested highlands, known as Hraběšická hornatina after Hraběšice. This geographical setting adds context to the village: Hraběšice began as a settlement of woodcutters and miners, and iron ore was mined in the surrounding area. The first written mention of the village dates to 1569.

Church and Protected Monuments

The Church of St Philip and James was built between 1818 and 1825; a parish was established there in 1842. The walls and ceiling of the chancel are covered with Neoclassical frescoes. The church thus brings together architectural history, parish history and a specific decorative feature. Visitors interested in historic architecture can consider these different aspects together, without confusing the frescoes with the period when the church was built.

Beside the parish church stands a protected Baroque-rustic statue of St John of Nepomuk from the second half of the 18th century. It provides another historical point of reference alongside the church: the statue is considerably older than the church’s construction and is identified by its own style and date.

Ski Park: Skiing and a Summer Pool

Hraběšice Ski Park is a family-friendly ski centre with slopes at elevations of 530 to 660 metres. Two interconnected lifts serve the slope; the longer one is a 620-metre double drag lift. The ski park also offers a ski school for children and adults. As operating conditions, lift arrangements and service availability may change, check the ski park’s latest information before making plans.

The season also matters when planning your trip: a swimming pool is available below the slope during the summer months. This seasonal offering is separate from the skiing and lift facilities. Check the latest availability information in advance before making the pool a fixed part of your stay.

Surroundings and Trail Information

Nearby, the Krásné Reservoir, its surroundings and the settlement of Krásné form a recreational area close to the city. This is another local landscape feature, alongside the forested highlands in Hraběšice’s cadastral area. From the Skřítek mountain pass, outings lead towards Šumperk and onward towards Hraběšice; trail maintenance and conditions vary by season.

A description of the “Za květenou podél Rudoltického potoka” route, last updated in 2015, lists Sobotín, Rudoltice, Traťovka, Hraběšice and Krásné as stops. For current trip planning, check trail conditions locally.
