Zborov offers several different highlights for a stay: the Nadhledna Háječek observation tower, a KČT hiking route and the Lyžařský areál Zborov ski area. The Chapel of St. John the Baptist, the Pietà cross and the war memorial also give the village a cultural and historical dimension. When planning your visit, the main considerations are access conditions at the observation tower and seasonal information about the ski area.
Views and access at Háječek
The Nadhledna Háječek observation tower is 30 metres tall; its viewing platform is 27 metres above the ground and can be reached by climbing 144 steps. From Háječek, views extend over the Hrubý and Nízký Jeseník ranges, the Českomoravské pomezí, the Zábřežská vrchovina and the Morava Valley.
Visitors can reach the viewpoint by parking below the ski slope or in the village, then continuing on foot or cycling about 1 km along the yellow KČT trail. Trail conditions may vary depending on the season. The Nadhledna is intended to operate year-round; however, access is not unrestricted. Check current access arrangements before your visit and take seasonal trail conditions into account when planning.
Hiking and winter sports
The Nadhledna is also part of the KČT hiking route Zábřeh–Václavov–Svébohov–Zborov–Horní Studénky. Those making hiking their main focus can consider the tower as part of this named route. The approximately 1 km approach after parking raises a different planning consideration from the route through the places listed: it gives an approximate distance to the viewpoint, while the route places it within a hiking connection.
Zborov is home to the Lyžařský areál Zborov Háječek ski area. This small ski area has a lift, and free parking is available there. Operating details may change from one winter season to the next, as may parking arrangements. Check both if you are planning your trip around skiing or parking there.
Getting there and local history
The nearest bus stop to the ski area is in Zborov, 300 metres away. The nearest rail access to the ski area is in Bohutín, 4 kilometres away; train connections run via Zábřeh or along the Šumperk–Hanušovice line. Bus and rail information gives different reference points for getting there: the 300 metres refers to the bus stop, while the 4 kilometres refers to rail access. Stops and connections can change, so it is worth checking the latest information before travelling.
The Pietà cross is a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. Zborov is also home to the Chapel of St. John the Baptist. The war memorial commemorates the victims of the First and Second World Wars. It stands behind a bus stop near the village square, providing a specific landmark. Together, these sites reflect different aspects of local history: a chapel, a religious monument and a memorial to both world wars.
