If you are considering Klopina as a travel destination, you can get to know the place through several specific themes: the Venkovské minimuzeum offers insights into work and everyday life in the past, while Okenice, the natural swimming area and a designated natural monument tree provide points of interest in the landscape. Partially preserved buildings of a former estate add to these attractions. When choosing accommodation, it is helpful to first decide what you want to focus on during your stay: village history, water and landscape, or a regional route? The following places and connections provide a factual basis for your decision.
Village History at the Museum and in the Townscape
The Venkovské minimuzeum is housed in a former school building. On display are reconstructed former classrooms, photographs, historical documents and old objects; food ration cards and old money are also included. The collection features hand tools and equipment from three fields of work: agriculture, carpentry and laundry. Traces of different professions and evidence of everyday life thus come together in one place. If you are interested in local history, this collection offers more than a look back at a single trade: the tools distinguish between the activities, while the classrooms, images and documents open up a view of other areas of life.
A second perspective on the village’s history is offered by the partially preserved buildings of a former estate at the lower end of the village. The estate has existed since the 16th century. Unlike the museum’s objects and documents, the emphasis here is on architectural remains. Both offer different ways of experiencing the history of the village.
Okenice, Natural Swimming Area and Natural Monument
The natural swimming area lies between Klopina and Veleboř; the Okenice flows past it, continuing through Klopina to Úsov and into the Morava. If you are looking for a specific natural feature alongside the water, the Památný strom Klopina is another point of interest: a pedunculate oak (Quercus robur) designated as a natural monument. Its location, “Pod Skalkou,” is right beside a forest path.
Events, Route and Getting There
Various cultural and social events take place in the area of the natural swimming area throughout the year. Check the specific dates in advance if you would like to plan your trip around an event.
A regional route is called “Doubravou na zámek Úsov, levandulový statek a kopec Bradlo.” It passes through Klopina and Veleboř and forms a circular route via Bradlo. This adds a regional itinerary to the individual points of interest in the village.
A distillery tour in Veleboř is one possible culinary addition. It includes explanations of all stages of spirits production, followed by a tasting of local distillates, which are not made exclusively from apples. Check the visiting arrangements in advance.
