Litoboř lies in a basin on the Zlámaný potok stream; the slopes extend from west to southeast. Hilly terrain, diverse nature and abundant greenery characterize the village. When planning a stay, you can consider the landscape and local history as separate highlights: viewpoints and marked trails sit alongside tangible historical evidence.
Hiking and landscape
Viewpoints above Litoboř offer views of Česká Skalice, Rozkoš and the surrounding area. For travelers planning to enjoy the landscape as well as local history, they provide a distinct second highlight.
Two marked KČT hiking trails pass through Litoboř. The green-marked trail runs between Litoboř, Boušín and Červený Kostelec; the blue-marked trail leads from Hořičky via Kalousov, Litoboř and Ratibořice to Jaroměř. The places named distinguish the route options: Boušín and Červený Kostelec are on the green route, while the blue route follows the sequence from Hořičky to Jaroměř. Check trail conditions before setting out, as they can change.
Cycling and the surrounding area
Cycling trips in the surrounding area are also among Litoboř’s leisure activities. One specifically named route is marked cycle route 4097, which runs along the southern edge of the Litoboř area on road II/304. This offers two distinct points of reference: cycling opportunities in the surrounding area in general, and a specific route along the edge of the area. Road and signage conditions can change; take this into account when planning.
Culture and historical traces
At the Turyň fortification site, a small remnant of a rampart has been preserved on a promontory by a small pond. The Turyň fortress is mentioned in 1399 and was already in ruins by 1542. The fortification site is classified as a Category UAN I archaeological area and a significant archaeological location.
The Chapel of the Virgin Mary is designated as a monument of local significance in Litoboř. It dates from 1800 and received a new electrically powered bell in 1998. Another stone monument is a cross with Christ, angels and a relief of the Virgin Mary on a stone plinth. Matěj Drtina had it erected in 1823 and donated it to the municipality of Litoboř; it was last restored in 2003.
The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk is another historical feature of the village. It stands on a stone plinth with a relief and was erected by Jan and Leonorie Dvořáčkovi. It was restored in 2003. Listed house No. 46 offers a different glimpse into the history of local architecture: it is an 18th-century building made of opuka stone, with an original bread oven.
