A pond covering almost 16 hectares, marked trails and restored monuments give Zábrodí several distinct points of interest for a stay. Brodský Pond lies within the cadastral area of Zábrodí; forests are nearby. To the east are relatively flat agricultural fields, from which the view extends across the border to Kladsko. The landscape and the village’s history can therefore provide different focuses for your trip.
Brodský Pond and Views
The recreational area at Brodský Pond includes a small rope course, a fairytale trail with wooden sculptures and a children’s playground. Seasonal availability may vary. If one of these facilities is important to your plans, check its opening status for your travel dates before visiting.
The views also differ by direction: east of Zábrodí, the view opens across the agricultural fields as far as Kladsko. To the south, Zábrodí offers a view of Náchod Castle and Dobrošov Mountain. Together with the nearby forests, these provide a range of landscape views without requiring any particular excursion.
Hiking Trails and Cycling Route
Two marked trails are described for hiking. The blue-marked trail from Zábrodí and Horní Rybníky passes through the valley of the Špinka stream and into the Úpa Valley. The yellow-marked trail starts at the campsite by Brodský Pond and heads towards the Úpa Valley. This difference is useful when choosing a starting point: the yellow trail begins at the pond, while the blue trail connects the two named places and follows the valleys.
Another option is the KČT cycling route 4095. It connects Zábrodí with Červený Kostelec, Kramolna and Náchod. For the hiking trails, the main points of reference are their markings, starting points and valley directions; for the cycling route, the key reference points are the places it connects. This makes it possible to choose a route according to the kind of exploration you have in mind, without assuming a particular distance or duration.
Local History and Monuments
Zábrodí became part of the Náchod estate in 1582. A later, precisely dated landmark is the monument to the fallen heroes, unveiled on 17 August 1924. These dates mark different chapters in the village’s history: its incorporation into the Náchod estate and the remembrance of the fallen.
Other named monuments include the Holy Trinity group and the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk; both have been restored. Together with the monument to the fallen heroes, they form a distinct cultural and historical point of interest alongside the pond, landscape and trails. When choosing Zábrodí, you can give these themes separate weight in your travel plans or combine an interest in nature with an interest in culture.
