Sports facilities, a pump track, and clearly identified cycling and hiking routes give Babice several concrete ways to explore the area. Add to that its location at the entrance to the deep Černokostelec and Jevany forests and the history of the town. Visitors looking for a focus for their trip can therefore choose between exercise, scenery and local history.

Scenery and Local History

Babice lies southeast of Prague. The town probably originated in the 13th century; its first written mention dates from 1381. These dates refer to different historical milestones: the 13th century marks its probable origins, while 1381 is the first written record. In the 1920s, Babice developed into a popular holiday destination for Prague’s lower and middle classes, who built holiday homes there. A holiday hotel on the village square became a landmark in this context. The holiday homes and hotel are therefore part of the area’s holiday history in the 1920s, not its medieval history.

Sports Facilities and Pump Track

The Babice Sports Complex is on Topolová Street, next to the kindergarten. It includes a 29 × 18-metre multi-purpose artificial-turf field for various ball sports, including tennis. There is also a 100 × 58-metre grass field equipped for football and rugby. The fields thus differ in size and surface, as well as in the activities mentioned.

Cyklohřiště is a pump track in the forest park near the kindergarten. One track is intended for younger children with balance bikes, small bicycles or all-terrain scooters; the other is for more experienced bikers and larger bicycles. A technical zone complements the tracks, allowing riders to practise their skills. The distinction between the two tracks is therefore based on both the users and the vehicles mentioned. Babice Forest Park also has play equipment for children in a woodland setting. Individual play elements may change.

Cycling and Hiking Routes

Cycling Route 0031 runs from Babice via Strašín and Svojetice towards Voděradské bučiny. Route 8206 runs from Babice via Doubek and Mrzky to Zahrady u Českého Brodu; Cycling Route 1A connects Babice with Žernovka. The routes can be distinguished by their destinations: Route 0031 heads towards Voděradské bučiny, Route 8206 goes to Zahrady u Českého Brodu, and Route 1A goes to Žernovka.

Two marked routes are also available on foot. The red-marked hiking trail connects Babice with Třebohostice and Strašín, while the yellow-marked trail leads to Doubek and Mukařov. The colours and destinations make the difference between these two routes immediately clear.
