The Rozhledna Ládví observation tower stands on the 488-metre summit of Vlková, above the settlement of Ladvi. It was built in 2011. Together with cultural sites in Ladvi and Kamenice-Ládví and a cycling route, the area offers various points of interest to consider when planning a trip. If you are considering Ladvi as a place to stay, you can treat the tower, local cultural heritage and cycling as separate highlights.

Tower, height and access

The height figures refer to different levels: 488 metres is the elevation of the summit of Vlková, 45 metres is the height of the tower, and the viewing platform is 25 metres above the ground. More than 150 steps lead to the platform. The figures therefore do not describe the same thing: they distinguish the elevation of the site, the structure itself and the platform. This makes it possible to consider the tower’s size separately from access to it and the position of the viewing platform.

The observation tower can be reached from Ladvi by car, bicycle or on foot. On foot, the blue-marked hiking trail leads from Ladvi to the tower. The possible ways of getting there thus differ not only by mode of transport; a marked route is available for the walk. Check trail conditions before setting out if you plan to use this hiking trail.

Cultural sites and memorials

Ladvi’s cultural sites also include the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk and the chapel. The statue is an immovable cultural monument with registration number 06244. The chapel is listed as an object of heritage interest. Ladvi is therefore home to two sites with different heritage classifications.

Another memorial site is located in Kamenice-Ládví. The memorial to the fallen of the First World War stands in a small park beside the main road. To keep your bearings, it is worth distinguishing between the place names: the statue and chapel are in Ladvi, while the memorial is in Kamenice-Ládví. This makes clear that they refer to different locations.

A historical connection

Another connection dates back to 1945–1947. The operation to rescue Jewish children from concentration camps was carried out between 1945 and 1947; later, it also focused on German children from Czech internment camps. A total of 810 children passed through the operation’s facilities. Penzion Bellevue in Ladvi became involved only later.

Cycling and route planning

Cyclists should keep two points in mind: the observation tower is accessible by bicycle, while cycling route 0029 runs from Strančice via Velké Popovice and Kamenice to Nová Grybla. Its route includes paved forest tracks, local roads and roads with light traffic. This makes for a mixed route profile, not just forest tracks; you can take the different sections into account when planning your own ride. Surface conditions and traffic levels can change, so check current conditions before setting out.
