Chabeřice brings together the Sázava landscape and traces of village history. North of the village is Jordán Hill, which rises to 476 metres; the stream of the same name flows through the village and once fed three ponds. Other features include a natural site with warmth-loving plants, an undeveloped bend in the river, and routes for cycling and hiking. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Chabeřice, you can shape your stay around riverside scenery, nature watching or local history.
Hill, River and Nature
Jordán Hill lies north of Chabeřice and reaches 476 metres. The stream of the same name flows through the village and once fed three ponds. The hill and the stream are two distinct landscape features; the three ponds are part of the stream’s former use.
Chabeřické skály is a natural site with warmth-loving plants. Protected herbs grow above the railway line between Zruč nad Sázavou and Chabeřice. The Nivní louka Sázavy u Chabeřic is a different kind of river landscape: an undeveloped meander of the Sázava valued by ornithologists. A meander is a bend in a river; its undeveloped form makes the floodplain a distinctive natural feature alongside the rocks. The water rail (Rallus aquaticus) may be observed at Nivní louka. This is a possible sighting, not a guaranteed encounter.
Cycle Route, Viewpoint and the Sázava
Marked cycle route No. 019 passes through Chabeřice and Holšice; within the Chabeřice area, it runs along the Sázava. The route description therefore connects the stretch through both villages with a section of river in the Chabeřice area.
On the route to the Babka lookout tower, a path branches off to a natural viewpoint near Chabeřické skály. If you include this option in your tour plans, check the trail conditions beforehand.
There is a swimming spot on the Sázava below the railway line between Zruč nad Sázavou and Chabeřice. If you plan to swim there, check the current conditions beforehand.
A former mill in Chabeřice now serves as a recreation centre on the Sázava between Zruč nad Sázavou and Chabeřice, below the railway line.
Buildings and Historical Traces
A stone bell tower stands in Chabeřice village square. The bell was confiscated during the First World War and replaced in the 1920s.
East of the village, on the road to Zruč nad Sázavou and between two lime trees, stands the niche chapel of the Holy Trinity. It dates from around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. Memorial lime trees stand at the U Ovčína crossroads and by the chapel on the way towards Zruč nad Sázavou.
Two interpretations concern different origins: according to local tradition, Jordán Hill got its name during the Hussite period; Chabeřice probably originated from a fortress called Jedlina.
