A 30-metre-high church, a bridal tradition with roots in the 16th century and a swimming pond on the edge of the municipality reveal different sides of Zbraslavice. The topics range from church architecture and local history to brewing culture and air sports; RybnĂk Pavlovka adds outdoor recreation. This allows you to explore the town according to the interests that matter for your stay.

St. Lawrence Church: Features and Architecture

St. Lawrence Church brings together several clearly dated architectural and decorative details. Its furnishings include old, Baroque-carved church pews and a pewter baptismal font dated 1602. The 30-metre-high tower has four bells. They originally date from 1594 and were recast after the fire of 1809.

On the northwest side, two small round-arched windows and another pointed-arch window opening have been preserved. The shapes are easy to distinguish even without specialist knowledge: a round arch ends in a curve, while a pointed arch tapers upwards. The church therefore brings together decorative details and architectural forms: pews and a baptismal font on the one hand, a tower and window openings on the other. The dates mark different points of reference: 1594 for the bells’ origins, 1602 for the date of the baptismal font and 1809 for the fire after which the bells were recast.

A Turning Point in the Town’s History

A fire on 13 April 1496 destroyed almost the entire small town of Zbraslavice, while the fortress survived. The difference from the church description lies in the scale: here, the town as a whole is the focus, while there, it is individual structural and decorative features. The town’s history and the church’s architecture thus offer different historical perspectives.

Brewing Tradition and Method

Zámecký pivovar Zbraslavice carries on Zbraslavice’s brewing tradition, whose origins date back to the 16th century. The brewery brews beer in Bohemia using the original traditional decoction method. Tradition and method answer different questions: the former provides a historical connection, while the latter describes how the beer is brewed. This makes it possible to consider local history and the brewing method separately.

Relaxation at RybnĂk Pavlovka

RybnĂk Pavlovka is a swimming pond for recreation on the edge of the municipality of Zbraslavice. There are grassy areas for relaxing, as well as slides. The two features offer different ways to enjoy the same pond: quieter recreation on the grassy areas and another activity option at the slides. Check the seasonal conditions before visiting.

Air Sports and a Weekend Programme

Aeroklub Zbraslavice offers opportunities for gliding, powered flying and model aircraft flying. As part of “Pilotem na víkend” (“Pilot for a Weekend”), members of the public can become Aeroklub members for a weekend. The three disciplines represent different interests in air sports, while the programme has a specific time frame. If you are planning to take part, check current dates and booking conditions. You should also confirm the current participation conditions for the Aeroklub’s other activities.
