Zoopark Zájezd offers animal watching and nature-themed activities in a variety of forms: in the “Terária” area, you can observe animals up close, while the “Naučná stezka” provides information about the natural environment around the zoo. There are also animal encounters in a walk-through aviary and special feeding programmes. The two visitor areas and travel by car or bus are also important to consider when planning your visit.

Animal watching and special encounters

In the “Terária” area, you can see the world’s largest public collection of chameleons up close. Rare iguanas, turtles, songbirds, spiders and stick insects are also on display. The animal species on display may change.

In the “Ušák” children’s area, children can play with the world’s largest rabbits. A walk-through aviary is home to curious squirrels and golden pheasants. These offer different kinds of animal encounters: “Ušák” focuses on playing with rabbits, while the aviary is designed as a walk-through area for squirrels and golden pheasants. What is offered at “Ušák” may change; the availability of animals in the aviary may also vary.

At “Rodinné krmení zvířat” (Family Animal Feeding), visitors can feed their chosen animal accompanied by an animal keeper. The “Krmení pro odvážné” (Feeding for the Brave) programme lets visitors feed chameleons, iguanas or snakes with an insect-based food. The programmes therefore differ both in the animals visitors can choose and in the type of supervision described. Visitor programmes may change; check whether your preferred activities are available before your visit.

Nature learning on the Naučná stezka

The “Naučná stezka” provides information about the natural environment around the zoo. There, you can learn to identify animal tracks and the calls of Czech bird species. The trail, with more than ten stops and interactive features, winds around the camel and continues to the lower area with an amphitheatre and children’s playground. Unlike observing individual animals, the focus here is on nature topics and learning to recognise tracks and birdsong. The route and facilities may be updated; check the latest information before your visit.

Visitor areas and how to get there

Zoopark Zájezd has two visitor areas. Take this layout into account when planning your visit, and check the latest access arrangements beforehand.

The main car park is outside the municipality of Zájezd, in the direction of Libochovičky. From there, it is a 500 m walk through nature, either along the nature trail or through the butterfly garden. As parking arrangements may change, check the latest information before travelling.

Bus lines 350/622 reach the Zoopark from Praha, Dejvická, to Kladno via Okoř. Line 342 runs from Praha, Veleslavín, to Slaný and stops at Bouchalka. Timetables may change; check the current schedule before travelling. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Zájezd, the animal and nature experiences you want to enjoy and your planned route can help shape your stay.
