Slussfors can be explored through its specific building history and natural features. Kirjesålandet lies about 8 km north of the village of Slussfors on the Blue Highway (E12). The 17,000-hectare area is part of the Vindelälven Nature Reserve. Hiking routes pass through old-growth forests with trees that are 300 to 600 years old. The area and the age of the trees provide different measures: the figure in hectares describes the extent, while the years indicate the age of the forest. The building history of the Advent Church

Slussfors Advent Church was built from a wooden house that was moved from Umnäs to Slussfors in 1940. About 20 years later, it was expanded for the first time with the addition of a barrack from Aujaur. The building sequence connects two different places of origin: Umnäs is where the relocated wooden house came from, while Aujaur is the origin of the later addition. The year 1940 dates the relocation; the first expansion followed about two decades later.
